How do people believe in god, when India exists?

Why would an all-powerful, all-knowing and supposedly "good" god allow such a travesty not only exist, but to thrive to the point where there soon be 2 billion Indians, spreading to every corner of his creation turning everything that is clean, prosperous, peaceful and good in this world into more India?
