"Belarus celebrates October Revolution Day today, November 7. In Minsk, a solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the Lenin monument and a gathering on Independence Square took place to mark the 108th anniversary of this historic event.

Belarus is the only country in the post-Soviet space (along with Transnistria) where November 7 is celebrated at the state level.The anniversary of the October Revolution is a momentous event, said Sergei Syrankov, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus:"In every corner of the Earth, there are those whose hearts still beat faster at the mention of Lenin, the Bolshevik Party, and the Soviet state.

The name of the October Revolution is associated with numerous victories, achievements, and labor accomplishments of the Belarusian people, which continue to be a source of our special pride. Thanks to October 1917, we gained our statehood, created economic and intellectual potential, and were able not only to preserve, but also to multiply and enrich our national culture."
