Denmark had control of the entirety of Scandenavia via the Kalmar union, but Danish kings kept on being horrible tyrants and turned Swedes against them. Monarchy keeps on proving itself to be a bad system of governance.

It bothers me that Scania is not part of Denmark because it makes Copenhagen a border city.
It would be more aesthetical for Denmark to be composed of the peninsulas on both side of the strait (Jutland and Scania) plus the islands in between with their capital city in the middle.
