Every relevant European country has Germanic roots.
England goes back to the Anglo-Saxons, France was literally named after a Germanic tribe, Spain was settled by the Goths.
Hell, even Russia is named after the Rus vikings.

In the times of Rome we were barbarians, rightly so.
