I was talking to a latinx about this the other day. >Anon, in spanish how do you go about gendering a noun when they don't end in vowels? >Like do you have any tricks for doing it? >When I speak in Italian it's easy because I just, with some exceptions, gender it based on the vowel that ends the word >>Why are you talking about gender?

It's just as intuitive to us as is "a European" is intuitive to you. Nobody fucking thinks about what gender is this or that word, it's automatic. It's purely phonetic harmony, no need to overthink it.

well they're going to get an aneurysm when they see italian, since we add articles eveywhere, even when referring to people >hai chiamato il simone >did you call THE simone
it can be applied to both surnames and names
