I think in most cases with fatigues the Patrol cap is the safe (albeit boring) option. I prefer the American cut with the soft square top and the baseball cap style visor. The 8 point cover is good too, it really depends on which you prefer

My favourite sailor cap is by far the Kreigsmarine sailor cap from ww2. Back then a lot of Navies (RN included) used to issue black headgear and I prefer it to white caps. I like the shape of it, I like the presence of the German cockade (I'm a sucker for the national symbols like that), the eagle is alright I guess, it looks much better on this cap than on the peaked caps and I really like the general shape of it. Another thing is the long ribbon that hangs behind your head, I like it a lot - The Russians/ Soviet navy have a very similar cap but, their one looks a bit too stiff and squared away, the beauty behind the Kreigsmarine cap is that it looks like it could have been worn on duty

I also like the Anzac slouch hat, probably my favourite pre helmet headgear. It edges out the pith helmet for me on looks (although the pith helmet was probably more effective)
