Why do indians measure wealth by number of millionaires by country? Like their whole nationalism comes down to a handful of indians being rich despite 99% of the population living in the worst living conditions of the planet
To them it doesn't matter they live in horrible conditions as long as a few indians they never met are rich

The richest indian built a multi billion skyscraper as a house on top of a slum. This is a clear sign of how big the gap is between the poor and the ultra rich in india
What's strange is that poor indians feel nationalism towards the billionaire and building despite it being obvious exploitation of the poor by the rich

I think with all the indian bullying, people are just giving indians more reasons to be nationalists

It just doesn't make sense at all. Online media keeps showing what a horrible poor and unsafe country india is. Instead of improving their country, indians choose to focus their nationalism on foreign ceo's and billionaires even if that changed absolutely nothing about the way people see india. All the wealth in india is owned by a handful of people. There is clear corruption everywhere but indians are strangely enough proud about it and feel nationalism towards it

Realistically speaking, what can a thirdie lower middle class, working man or peasant do to improve their society? We're in that position precisely because we dont have the effective control of their countries' policies, if we did we would be part of the ruling class. The lack of control to change the country for the better is sustituted by the powerful ideology of nationalism, inasmuch as its brings some hope (even if its unfounded) that things might improve in the future. Humans are by nature optimistic
