we've been using slide rules and before that logarithm tables for fucking centuries. like some scotish guy made logarithm tables in the 1600s that drove most math since then. Like to the point where some math error in one of his books had been copied for centuries and most calculators actually use logarithm tables instead of calculating like a human because it's faster.
They stopped making kids memorize times tables though, and that's shit's retarded. memorizing times tables is a necessity
