HA HA! They haven't been below top upper-class since the 19th century. Not in Cuba, and not in the US.
My own dear mother went to University of Georgia in 1968, and she said every exiled Cuban's (or child of an exile's) father either owned a department store, or an orange grove, or a factory, or a car dealership chain, or a shipyard, etc. She met a bunch of them during her time there, and every one of them said they used to live on same street in Havana as the President (Baptista). All flashy, rich as fuck, drove new Cadillacs.
Must have been horrible for them when the party ended in '59.

I don't remember the pre-revolution vital statistics, but they were grim enough to paint the aristocracy as worse than gangsters. Those exiled fuckers hold a grudge.
