Ok, I just changed my firefox settings and turned off this option
Tools>Options>Advanced >warn me when websites try to redirect
So now when I visit this board when Im logged in I dont get the error messages I posted above, & im free to browse the threads here. However, /j] disappears from the board menu at the top of the page, and when I click back on any public board it appears as though Ive signed out; I see captcha and the janitor panel is missing (its also gone on this board).
To remedy this, I just click on the bookmark I made https://sys.4chan.org/board/admin and I seem to automatically sign in again. Up flashes the msg "You are logged in as a janitor."
Im going to try swtiching to chrome and see if the problem persists there
>>2110 >However, /j] disappears from the board menu at the top of the page, and when I click back on any public board it appears as though Ive signed out; I see captcha and the janitor panel is missing (its also gone on this board).
Same here, seems to happen every time one visits /j/.
>However, /j] disappears from the board menu at the top of the page, and when I click back on any public board it appears as though Ive signed out; I see captcha and the janitor panel is missing (its also gone on this board).
Quick reply on /j/ seems to be faulty. When you press Submit, the window seems to freeze up and hang and not process the reply, however if you click [X] and refresh the page you'll see your post
>>2220
I should note it the 'sending' tab does appear when you press Submit, but it quickly reverts back to the Submit tab like nothing happend. Im using the most up-to-date version of firefox, but it was also happening on an out-dated version.
So, yeah, long story short: I tried to delete a few replies in /vr/ today and noticed they only vanish after a few minutes. Under normal circumstances they get deleted instantly. I removed a thread on /v/ later and it was pruned properly and without delay.
I made a few test posts on my assigned boards, which I all deleted but they are still being displayed. Trying to report these posts results into Sys telling you they don't exists anymore. Another janitor can confirm this. It all points to caching problems.
Seconding this. I tried the same thing over on /m/ and the replies were taking a few minutes to be deleted as well. In fact, I had to complete sign out of being a janitor and reload the page (as if I was a normal user) before anything was shown as removed from the boards. (Tested on both Chrome and Firefox, if it helps)
>>2221 >>2220
the code for QR on /j/ appears to be recycled from the regular website; it includes references to recaptcha and throws errors related to missing references/methods in the JS console.
This is going to sound like SPECTACULAR nit-picking, but here goes: I was surprised to find that the janitor functions are largely intact on the mobile site. However, the ban request form will not accept any inputs, making ban requests impossible.
>>2382
Disable the Inline ban request panel option in settings. It opens a new tab instead that allows inputs.
Tested in Chrome mobile, not sure if it's the same in other browsers
>>2383
No good; that's the only way it'll get to the BR screen anyway, and once there it won't bring up the list of templates.
It's a Droid X running Android 2.3.4, not rooted and using the regular Android browser. It's a relatively old phone so I'm not necessarily surprised if it's not supported, I just like running through the reports queue while I'm at work.
> In Firefox 20 this attribute is only honored for links to resources with the same-origin.
Their other docs on this state that " document.domain='4chan.org'; " in the page code will override this issue; if there's a security reason not to do this, the download button's effectively only useful to Chrome.
Perhaps a " ('download' in document.createElement('a')) && (navigator.userAgent.indexOf("Firefox") == -1) " truth value could be attached to the code that renders the Download button until this is sorted out.
Threads past page 0 seem to disappear on /j/.
/j/'s always been broken and it's probably low-priority now but you will never have good discussion if you can't even find the thread you wanted to reply to.
The threads don't 404, they just "vanish". A simple bump brings them back. https://sys.4chan.org/j/res/2149#p2408
The parser for embedding YT URLs ignores timecodes in them (deadly when people are intentionally linking critical parts inside long clips).
This replacement code for the Media object's toggleYouTube function (inside extension.compiled.js) makes sure the parser grabs and passes them without altering expected embed/remove behavior:
I really didn't want to clog up /j/ with yet another thread simply to ask this one thing so I thought I would ask here:
Is there any chance we could have the background of the reports queue page changed to something less bright? (Possibly Yotsuba B)
It just kills my eyes after a while and sometimes you're sitting there dealing with all the reports for quite some time.
-quote preview and inline quote links do not work on /j/ if the targeted post is omitted from the index. they do work if the post is visible or if you're inside a thread.
-after changing a password at https://www.4chan.org/tmp/janitor/changepass.php, the page prompts you to log back in at /admin. for one thing, there's no need to--after changing my password I was still logged in on my boards. the link provided also sends you to /a/'s manager login, which is obviously only useful if you actually janitor /a/.
The buttons are frickin' tiny for fingertips and getting the right top/bottom button can be a challenge. The inline BR popup defaults to covering those buttons.
For some reason while the thumbnails show up fine in newer.php's thread preview, they less consistently show up in the actual page, regardless of the number of posts or images. This might be just bad luck.
Touching them opens them in a new window *and* triggers expansion.
The 'download' button opens the image in the same window (which it doesn't do on any desktop browser). Good job, WebKit.
The preview doesn't show subjects, backlinks or replies, which means about half the time I'm having to opening the thread in a new window to gain context. Top/bottom scroll arrows would be nice too.
The bar with "Refresh" and "Settings" is necessary enough to me that it would be better fixed to the bottom of the screen (esp. on mobile).
Backlinks have # characters at the ends of them; don't know why.
Sort by board and by severity are missed ;_;
Overall a great redesign both from functionality and UX.
The janitor part of the inline extension is kind of acting up. The "janitor tools" box is constantly is fixed on ?/?/? instead of showing the number of reports.
When I open the report panel, I don't seem to be able to send ban requests, as in they don't appear to be going through. When I attempt to send them, it loads forever and infinity and the threads don't appear to be deleted.
I've just been going to the standard old report screen and linking to the original threads and deleting directly if necessary.
However, BRs aren't deleting the threads if you do it that way, so you'll still have to manually delete. I'm not on IRC right now, but I assume someone is messin' around with things, making changes, etc.
Okay, since the devs have stepped up and fixed all the major issues we were having, here are a few janitor-related bug reports.
-On the new reports page, pressing R to reload the queue while hovering a thumbnail will cause the image to get stuck on the page.
-The janitor toolbox on /j/ is stuck at ?/?/?
-My toolbox reads 5 total reports even though there are none in the queue; another janitor mentioned having a similar problem
And a suggestion:
-Pressing R to reload the queue should clear the "Something went wrong," "Post does not exist," etc. error messaged from the header
Ive noticed this for a while, but the reports ticker in the Tools bar never reaches zero now, It only counts down to 1.
And when its showing 2 reports, there is in fact only 1 report, when it shows 3 reports there are only 2 etc etc. I know its a small thing but I do love seeing 0 reports :D
In addition to those, if you keep clicking delete on the same report you did, you artificially lower your report count in the titlebar and can even go into having a negative report count.
>>2734
These went down to 0 recently, but today, two different single reports have gotten stuck in the toolbox. One of them went away after a while, and one is still there.
I think this might happen when a mod does something to remove the report from their end. Both times I saw a stuck report today where after a mod dealt with report abuse by warning, banning, or whatever it is mods do, from their end.
>>2750 >I think this might happen when a mod does something to remove the report from their end.
I'm now almost certain this is what causes it, since it just happened again.
Im pretty sure its nothing important, but my reports page ended up looking like this after hitting refresh. It went back to normal again with a seperate page refresh but I just thought Id make a note of it
With regards to phantom reports in the toolbox, this almost certainly happens when a mod clears all reports from a single IP.
The reports are cleared, but the number does not go down in the toolbox.
>>2814
There's a setting for that which you may have accidentally enabled with the T keybind. You can remap that to another key so it's not right next to R for refresh.
The last time this all messed with, it went back and forth for a while, but eventually the linkification of >>>/board/ links was changed so it only worked on strings that were actually valid: >>>/a/ would linkify but >>>/reddit/ wouldn't.
Now it's back to the way it was and >>>/anything/ will become a link, pointing nowhere.
There are two off-center flags, Switzerland and Nepal. They're 11x11 and 9x11, respectively, so they can't be correctly centered in the 16x11 flag space. To fix this, just give the .flag-ch class a width:11px and the .flag-np class a width:9px to override the .flag class default of width:16px.
The original Montenegro flag icon is 16x12 instead of 16x11 for some reason, so in the current sheet, it's been resized to 15x11. This makes it off-center. It looks better as a "squashed" 16x11, so I took the liberty of adding that to the sheet (it's the one with the gold border halfway down the second column).
If you're particularly attached to having it be 15x11, then the .flag-me class needs a width:15px added to it.
It looks like the Switzerland and Nepal flags were "centered" in the sheet instead of having their class widths adjusted. Since both flags are an odd number of pixels wide, they can't be centered in a 16px-wide space, and so they are both off-center by 1 pixel.
There's no way to properly center them without adjusting the width of those two flags' divs. If that's not gonna happen, okay -- just making sure.
Haha this may seem a bit pedantic but I've been thinking about this for a while lol, and I dont think its been mentioned here...but on the reports page may we possibly get reports flagged as "Commercial spam/advertising" to appear in a nice shade of blue, like they use to on the old reports page? Its more of an oversight than a broken thing but as well as looking nice it would alert me a bit faster to someone advertisng I think.
>>2988
I agree with this. There's already a "report-cat-3" class in the CSS that would give reports a background with this color, but it's not implemented.
>>2988 >>2989
Actually, on this subject, it looks like the spam report classification really isn't implemented at all. The blue number in the janitor toolbox doesn't go up when something is reported for spamβit's always 0.
Not all illegal reports are counting towards the red number in the toolbox. It looks like posts that appear from other boards due to getting 3+ illegal reports count, but a post getting a single illegal report on the boards I'm assigned to does not count.
/cgl/ janitor here. I believe I have found a bug. I opened my queue this morning and found that there are 800+ reports in it from numerous different boards, all of which I don't have permissions for since /cgl/ is my only board. I use my iphone to do my janitoring, if that makes any difference.
When the OP text is too long, it takes up the entire section of the catalog view and removes any capability of clicking the post to take you to the thread.
It's most noticeable on /vg/ where the OPs are particularly long.
I know the in-page search function works, I just wish the browser search didn't generate that problem. The former only returns threads as a result, whereas the latter allows you see the exact results and determine if the context is being used appropriately in terms of what exactly you're looking for.
A few hours ago I BRed a thread from the front page of /tv/. After the BR went through, I checked the reports and noticed there was also a report of the same thread. But now the report is stuck and will not clear, despite the thread being gone and the delete/clear buttons on the report page appearing to work. Other reports are still appearing and clearing appropriately except for the stuck one.
>>3494
Yeah there was one on /v/ too, Ive brought it to the admins attention though ive seen it happen before...but two happening on the same day is a bit unusual maybe.
Clicking refresh in the reports page multiple times gives this error - Something went wrong (SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data)
>>4836
Doing any action multiple times in a row floods the servers with requests and will result in that message. Just take it easy with the keybind mashing.
>>4847
This is happening to me too. I tiered it on Firefox, Chrome and Pale Moon on different computers and it shows broken on all of them. Internet Explorer seems fine though.
Seems like certain odd characters really dislike the report queue. I'm using Opera and have the paged zoomed out slightly, but zoom level doesn't appear to change the relative position.
The exact name as text is: "goΰ±¦Τ sHit!hCANCER7oU".
[s4s] is apparently having a problem where threads are not expiring, and new threads cannot be clicked on until someone replies to them from the pages.
I believe the thread >>>/jp/14476599 was moved from /a/ into /jp/ around ten minutes ago, but the link is not valid. The thread is visible on both the front page and the catalog, but cannot be clicked on.
The title of the thread is "Kantai Collection" (and has no OP text) and can be found in the catalog.
Not broke but just a couple of quick questions. I mentioned them on IRC, but just in case they were missed:
Are we going to have the Ban Request Template for Pol Outside of /Pol again? Especially as we get closer to the elections more Politic topics are leaking onto other boards they don't usually do.
Also not as important but can we eventually get the Ban Template for /2-Yaoi actually get corrected to /2-Off Topic (Yaoi) like on the other boards. I don't know if this is just a quick fix, but don't worry about it if it's more trouble than its worth.
Was wondering if we could get a Ban Template for Duplicate Threads. Maily for the people who start threads without checking the catalog, first which I don't consider spamming. Maybe with like the Quality of Posts, it could just be a "Warn" offense. Thanks!
>>6323
since4pass doesn't work in /j/ since the names/capcodes here are special, but you're right. it doesn't work for janitors who have bought a pass and try to use it when logged in to their janny creds.
Just a little peev I have but I hate how if a thread is 404'd by staff, or if it falls off on /b/, /bant/, or /f/, that it disappears from your Thread Watcher after you refresh it twice. Quite often it refreshes twice automatically before you have a chance to see which thread 404'd. I like to check on third party archives for any other replies, but I forget which thread it was in and have to search for keywords from it that I remember.
Tiny bug report for the reports queue:
(I'm not sure if this extends to all archived posts or just archived illegal posts)
The cleared queue will display the cleared 3-or-more illegal reports from all boards. The ban request button is still displayed on these posts, even if they're archived. Clicking the ban request button on an archived illegal post will inform you that the post doesn't exist anymore.
>>6737
Plz support 4chins by turning off adblock. Nobody will pay to have their product on our favorite cantoneese underwaterwater basket weaving forum, so it's already hard for newmoot to keep the site afloat. At least give them their .01 cents per page view.
>>6766
Have a weird glitch where there's a report in my que with no content.
The report leads to post >>>/tv/104156499 (which shows at 404 for me)
The "BR" button gives the error "that post has already been cleared".
The report stays there even after hitting "Refresh".
Report shows as "1" report on the "Janitor Tools".
Tried logging out of the site, relaunching browser, clearing cache, cookies, active logins, forms, and offline website data it's still there.
I'm using Firefox Quantum 62.2.2 (64-bit) on desktop.
Firefox broken for anyone else? I can log onto /j/ and go into the report queue but on the boards themselves my janitor tools don't pop up. Janitor settings aren't even in the settings menu on normal boards.
I completely cleared all cookies and cache in FF with CCleaner but the janitor machine still roke
I've been noticing that my settings (Janitor and general) are being reset very frequently. This was happening prior to the https switchover, and continues to happen now as well. I lose my thread watcher, inline quote links, and a variety of other settings randomly when I refresh a page, change pages, etc. Janitor settings seem to stick a little better. The issue persists across different browsers. At least one other Janitor was experiencing the same issue, but we haven't been able to figure it out. Is this a known bug or am I an idiot?
>>7320
You're noot alone with that one.
Happens to me too, sometimes I can go days with the settings saved, others, it resets almost every hour. Started maybe 2 or 3 weeks back.
>>7320
Going to update this to note that even if I bookmark pages with my 4chan settings URL, the settings don't work when loaded via the bookmark. I have to go into settings and manually update everything again. It's sporadic, but I have to do it at least 4-5 times a day.
I was able to reproduce the issue reliably, though theres likely multiple other issues as well.
enable thread watcher on catalogue page
move the thread watcher anywhere but the default location
the catalogue forces itself to drop down navigation and removes the thread watcher, all settings get reset.
>>7334
Very glad to hear I'm not losing my mind
>>7335
This is exactly what I'm experiencing.
What browser(s) is everyone using? I think it may be a cross-platform issue but it might be good info to provide. I'm on (Chromium) Edge 80.0.361.109, this has persisted across several recent updates.
>>7336
I don't believe it to be a cross-platform issue since I use firefox 74.0
the way the location of the thread watcher window is stored between pages and refreshes is what strikes me as the most likely culprit, but whether that location data is simply causing an error that rebuilds from the default or causing an overflow I'm not sure without seeing the code
I think I figured out what causes the refresh of Janitor and other User-Preference Settings.
Whenever a particular version of any board's catalog is visited with the mobile version of the board navigator (see pic related), it will refresh all the settings for whatever reason.
Generally, this version of the board navigator should ONLY appear whenever the user agent is set to a mobile browser, however, for whatever reason, sometimes, it may occasionally appear on desktop browsers as well.
>>7344
It doesn't matter if you're using mobile or not, for whatever reason it'll pop up on desktop at random. I still can't pinpoint exactly why or how it happens, it feels arbitrary.
>>7344
As it turns out, you are right. Moving around the Janitor Tools IS what causes the board selector to turn into the mobile/dropdown version, at least on desktop. Not only that, but clicking the refresh button on the Janitor Tools also causes it to move slightly, therefore also triggering the dropdown board navigator. If it refreshes/expands, it might also cause it to move slightly. I believe the exact same things I mentioned with the Janitor Tools also applies to the Thread Watcher as well. All my tests are consistent with triggering this. I still don't know why the dropdown navigator causes a complete refresh of user settings though, it might have something to do with the catalog and thread/board settings being completely different.
>>7346
More tests, while being logged out of the system (ie not having access to the janitor settings), moving from the default board navigator to the drop down navigator temporarily loads up the default settings before loading up the user's preferred settings. I think it doesn't know what to do with the extra janitor settings to it just sticks with the default settings.
