I'm making this thread to point out one particular troublemaker but if any other /vg/ janitors find some guy doing strange things worth dealing with feel free to post 'em too.

Pic related is a guy known as "copypasta spammer" in /xivg/, the Final Fantasy XIV General. As his name implies, he reposts posts in /xivg/ repeatedly. The reposts come from multiple IPs but given how the general reacts to him he's likely just spamming the general from multiple IPs. Banning is only a momentary relief but hey, that's true with most chronic problems on /vg/.

Just putting that out there as a heads up for why fxi posts in the fxi general are getting BR'd in the first place rather than me just being senile.

Also important to note: If on /vg/ you see a report for a post quoting a large number of posts in /xivg/, its one of their regulars looking to point out the spammer(s). Not saying he's helping appropriately but I think its worth mentioning.

fxi gen is in general (hehe) a weird thread, lots of avataring and what I suspect is fake avataring.

Since we're pointing out things about /vg/ (This thread is great, I hope more /vg/ janitors and mods get involved because of the 'cultural' differences between generals).

SC2g has a meta where they post inane, often one sentence off topic posts. Might seem like the normal shit you'll get now and then but if you chill in the general you will get 10-30 posts of "What type of shaving cream should I buy?" "Do you guys like Hearthstone?" "I'm ordering a pizza, what toppings should I get?" "Is it normal for my balls to be this sweaty?"

So and so forth.

On one hand, it doesn't contribute to the conversation. Its probably the most "chatroomy" stage of a general.

On the other hand they're mostly a momentary thing and I'd argue they're more of a primer for the actual discussion - they indicate, if nothing else, that the thread is alive and worth posting in. Just a simple indicator of "We've moved here, the old general is dead."

For that reason I actually look for them when 2 competing threads form, because there's usually the normal one and the second one formed by a specific circlejerk trying to "take control of the general" or something stupid. In such cases, its the real one that will have those seemingly inane posts.

tl;dr but pretentious version: Know how when you're developing as a fetus you grow fish parts, a tail, and other weird things but its removed during later development? Same thing here. If they continue well after 150+ posts then they should be pruned but until then it shouldn't be a concern (unless they're posting something explicitly rule breaking).

Just wanted to put some thoughts and feelings down, sorry if it is misplaced:

- Especially on /gw2g/, /gsg/ and /tf2g/ people from guilds/steamgroups will often raid the thread because of divergences just to spam gibberish and shitpost in general. The /tf2g/ population contains a high number of underage users compared to the other threads, this is my feeling.

- A few threads like /sc2/, /rs07/ and 4chan cup among others give rise to lots of shitposting because there really isn't much to talk about the original game.

- The anime avataring and anime off-topic discussion on /vg/ is over the top and makes up a lot of the reports that reach the report queue.

- Regular abuse of the report function to report someone whose opinion you don't agree with.

- On the differences between /d2g/ and /lolg/, the two fastest moving threads:

/lolg/ has lots of avataring, homoerotic RP and in general likes to post images (mostly from the game girl's characters ) but they still discuss the game daily and exchange strategies and helpful comments which is surprising. The thread is plagued by three or four avataring users (Rustle, Karu, Rika etc) that keep exchanging spoiler'd comments about their gay adventures without ever discussing the game. Some off-topic discussion and pasta spam does happen. The thread explodes when esports is happening with lots of greentexting and spamming.

/d2g/ feels like it's turning into a little brother of /sc2/ but still with good amounts of content. It's going in the opposite direction of /lolg/ with lots of people increasingly arguing about random off-topic stuff and some Kpop posters trying to make their hole. Regularly LoL players come into the thread to try and rile up D2 players. Like /lolg/ the thread gets most active during esports time but team and player discussion is much more persistent over time than /lolg/, they don't seem to engage in knowledge sharing as much.

/d2g/ has had an issue with discussing strategy ever since the maxing flameguard and general clan_iraq stuff started, and now its becoming more "juice vs clan_iraq". Hopefully it gets better.

I feel as though /lolg/ is in a really good place at the moment and is probably one of the better behaved generals on the board despite the couple of outlying shitposters. Rustle seems to be most active after midnight EST. Karu generally avatars but I'll admit I feel it's fine to leave his posts alone most of the time since he actually discusses the game and stays pretty on topic most of the time.

/kspg/ is something else I've noticed seems to be experiencing a lot of troubles. Recently two (possibly more) anons have been using the general as their ERP chatroom. I've been sending in BRs for them but obviously they just evade. If you have a couple of spare minutes in your day then I'd recommend just opening the kerbal general and just giving it a quick skim in case it's currently happening. Like most ERPs they think spoilering their conversation makes it ok, so just look for large amounts of spoilered posts.

What are the mods and other /vg/'s janitors opinion on threads which don't talk about video games or very rarely, and what should be done with them:

* /ksg/ - Katawa Shoujo General
As far as I know, some people are trying to make VNs that prolong the KS history, otherwise the thread only consists of people avataring, reposting pictures of the characters, talking about their sexual adventures with their favorite character and off-topic discussion such as what they did that day.

* /nepgen/ - Neptunia General
People shipping their characters, in-fighting between what they call the "yurifags", "blancfags" and other users then constantly posting strawpolls to see which group is right or wrong, avataring, resposting pictures of the characters.

* /mg / - Morenatsu General
I must admit I have no idea what this thread is about and what kind of game Morenatsu is because I've never once seen anyone talk about the game in my time as a janitor, I believe it's some kind of VN from looking at the official site. Reposting of furry and other anthro characters, ERP etc.

Possibly the biggest problem I've noticed with nepgen is the large number of reports any post mentioning a shipping with a male character receives. I've seen multiple reports on posts just mentioning a possible male character in the next. It clogs an already very busy report queue.

I'm of the opinion that this shit needs to go. I'm sure most of the /vg/ janis don't even know what this game is or about, and you can't even go to the general itself to find out, because this general is mostly furry posting, husbando fighting, gay ERP, and /soc/ shit.

Worst part is this general seems to accumulate a lot of reports simply because someone said someone else's husbando sucks, or has some sort of flaw, etc. It's entirely difficult to try and get context on a reported post from this general. In my opinion, these generals need to stop, they're using a loose tie to a VN as an excuse to talk about things that better belong in soc or lgbt. Pic related.

Poor JRPG general is going through a crisis right now. There's one (maybe several?) spammers that are determined to kill the general. One spammer just repeatedly posts spoilers for JRPGs that recently came out to try and ruin them for other people, and there's a spammer that just repeatedly posts random wiki articles. These two spammers are probably the same person but I haven't been able to confirm it since he switches IPs as soon as he receives a posting block. I'm not really sure what can be done about this guy and sometimes he spams the general for upwards of 3 hours at a time. Pic related is what the spam looks like.

There isn't really a problem with this thread, but I've noticed it generates a lot of reports purely for NSFW content because of the nature of the thread. Is there any possible way of easing up on the NSFW rule just for this general? Or is that not possible because it would end up being a case of give an inch take a mile?

I experienced the same for /JRPGgen/. This user spent about 20 hours over two days spamming the general with pasta about diamonds and other wiki articles, changing IPs as soon as he gets BR'd.

For /hgg/, I think the general is pretty okay, compared to some other generals it doesn't generate that many reports. I usually just press "File Only" when someone reported a nude since the users actively try to censor their pics so we need to be lenient and let them have their fun.

Another problem that generals are faced with is some people thinking they have to post no matter what, even if there is nothing to discuss at that point, so they make posts like this: https://archive.foolz.us/vg/thread/71277318/#71350923

Same thing happens to other generals such as the Runescape one where people will simply post random "gz" to anything that gets posted.

I have a big problem with the final fantasy MMO general, there are a lot of accusations of avatar use and I can't tell the difference between avatars and screenshots for the most part. They usually screenshot their character emoting and then post it with their comment. Not sure if that counts, there was a big thread a few days ago complaining about it and some users started spamming spiderman pics until a jani intervened, when I deleted the spiderman stuff they accused me of helping the avatarfags and spammed anti moderation stuff for an hour or so.

Need help understanding what constitutes avatars in that thread.

In general, posting images of your character is fine. This can extend to all the MMO generals. Players like to show off scenic areas in the game world, nice armor sets or weapons they've acquired, funny things other players have done, etc. FF14 definitely has one of the nicer looking game worlds and characters of the MMO genre and I think that lends to why they like to post screencaps so much.

Overall in my opinion, the type of "avataring" FF14 general has is fine. It's FF14 content/screenshots in the FF14 general.

Some guy posted a new general for SC2, with a shitty OP and a shitty picture, before you knew it it had already 40 replies and other 'alternative' general threads were popping up.

I removed the newer threads because the other one was already new, we don't need 3 /scg/ but, should I remove the one with the shittiest OP and leave the newer, proper ones, or like I did today: removing the newer ones and leaving the one the people already posted on?

I've always thought that If the general has less than 50 posts, deleting it in favor of a much better OP is the correct procedure.

There is a kind of shitposting warfare going on right now between the trifecta of shitposting: /3dsgen/ - /vitagen/ - /jrpgen/. This is likely because some of the users overlap. As far as I know there is also a (or multiple) IRC channel where certain people group up to organize spam raids and false-flag in /vitagen/ to talk about how the Vita is shit or dying, in general just posting vitriolic comments to get reactions.

3DS general is very, very slow so when a thread dies no one bothers making a new. They prefer invading /vitagen/ and flame Vita users. I had to make a new thread 3 days ago so they would leave /vitagen/, which is still up right now with only 450 replies.

JRPG is being flooded by spam and some user they call Kattfag who only posts Katt pictures or spams his "review" of Breath of Fire, see >>3959.

Are you sure any of the "warfare" is actually legitimate posters of one thread attacking another, and not just the same group of spammers who attack all the threads equally? Either way, though, I think it's most important to stay on the evaders/spammers, and just deal with any other shitposting normally (rather than worrying about who's a user of which thread invading whichever other thread).

The spammer in the JRPG threads, who also shits up vitagen (and probably 3DS too) in particular should be sat on constantly if possible.

And I guess the guys in the thread also join the bandwagon just to watch people get mad. It really has to get stopped fast because thread gets derailed pretty fast.

A couple things of note:
Unteralterbach is not allowed. The threads are little more than discussion of child models, and general pedophile hangouts.

Morenatsu is now not allowed. These threads, as one janitor put it, have essentially been "Furry Generals" and are mostly for dumping furry images.

Moving forward, please delete or ban request (Global 3) these threads. Thank you.

Keep an eye out for this spam, the guy who does it is an evader. Happens in the dota 2 general.

/scg/ Star Citizen General was a thread that originated during the game's infancy as a kickstarter project that fed along side a primary funding site. Originally focusing on speculation and theory-crafting for the game and its universe. Following the success of its kickstarter campaign, the thread was able to sustainably grow in traffic and size, with a number of new users coming directly from the /v/ and neighboring threads for star citizen's appeal in gameplay and mechanics.

In more recent occassions, several individuals and 'factions' of disruptive persuasion have largely changed this environment into one of hostility and have generated conceited efforts to discourage meaningful discussion and ostracize certain other members of the community through a number of means including impersonation and doxx'ing.

A fair number of individuals have taken to functionally spamming the thread on a daily basis using the same images and floods of vocaroo links over and over again. Amongst them, there are one or two ban-evaders as well. I'm sure everyone's heard of VocalFag.

Shitposting is highly prevalent at this time within /scg/ as it fluctuates in volatility between vying steam groups who wish to maintain "ownership" over the thread. In several examples a group's information from /mwog/ Mechwarrior Online General has been posted as that of the primary for this thread, despite earlier and more relevant efforts to create the foundations for a community here.


TL;DR version : Group of people sitting in some voice-chat trying to lord over the thread whilst snuffing out any opinion contrary to them.

Please get rid of /sc2/ already.

It's video games, it's on-topic but he keeps spamming his screenshots and getting reported by people from the thread. I've been clearing them for now since it doesn't break any rules AFAIK. Does it fall under avataring or reposting/spamming?

I'd rather have this kind of on-topic stuff than some of the shit I see daily like "memes" or other gay faggotry tbh.

World of Warcraft general for example, has people posting off their characters all the time alongside constructive posts aside from one or two rabble rousers with bait-posts.

FN@Fgen is becoming problematic. The simplest way to put it is that FN@F has become exactly what Morenatsu gen was when it was removed. There's very little discussion about the game itself (in a lot of threads there is none). Instead this general is used to write furry fanfiction, share images that are very furry in nature but use just enough loopholes to not be BR'able, or just straight imgur links to NSFW furry art.

Morenatsu was removed for being furry general, and FN@F is pretty much on the same level now, except it is generating more reports by far and clogging up the report queue each night. Here's just a portion of last night's FN@F reports.

Here's another bunch that was waiting for me tonight when I got home. There was some more I didn't get in the screencap. Two nights ago was even worse where there were multiple people outright posting blatantly NSFW furry art.

Am I out of line in thinking that a general that uses their thread not to talk about the game it sprang from, but to post furry porn, furry fanfiction, request what furry porn they'd like to see more of, should be removed?

I deleted some furry images yesterday and warned them it wasn't video games, I don't know if I was in the right to do so but it was like kicking a wasp's nest (they started spamming hotpockets garbage and burnt pizzas). They said they will be emailing moot shortly to complain about the janitor.
