It wouldn't be the first time it happened for me. I think the plants i nthe background makes her feel smaller and also those body bits like the hands, i feel like i could sit her in the grass and she'd fit right there without standing out too much
As for custom dolls, i don't have the time to properly make one myself, i'm a very time starved person between work school and family matters, so i was thinking of just paying someone to do a custom doll of hers, around 133-145cm tall i was thinking Akyuu would be, and pretty slim too. Which is the issue, dolls at that size so far have proved to be more pear-shaped, as in quite a bit, rather than just slim all the way down, for that i have to scale up to 155-165cm tall, but that'd be too tall for her i think.
As for my family i'll likely just not mention how the dolls, the body pillow, the full body anime girl, stickers, keychains, and others, are of the same character, just act as if nothing is wrong and hope they don't ask
