The markets are collapsing... The villagers are losing faith... The tengu and youkai have turned elsewhere... The other gods have turned a blind eye...

But, even with everything failing... You'll stay with me, right? You won't leave my side.

Please... don't leave me. Don't take my rainbow from me.

I think it's sad that the dork jokes or the gay ceo jokes overshadow the tragedy to Chimata's character. She's like Kogasa, only where Kogasa ascended in a sense, Chimata had a fall from grace. She has to put on a facade of egotism when, in reality, she's alone and stuck as a pawn in the schemes of others and is aware of this state yet powerless to stop it. Chimata doesn't even get to have the comfort of friends, the only people who bother to be around her are those who hope to use her powers for a quick buck.

Chimata... You only seek me for favours. Have you thought of me when you threw a dinner? Or invite me for coffee? Even when we are related, by your tube-fox-in-law? You didn't want to be involved with me, and now you call me "friend"? You had you villagers, your consumers, your market and thought to be safe, when if you were really a close friend, you wouldn't have to worry about anything? My faith, would be your faith, my strength would be your strength, your market would be a part of mine.

No, but it makes sense. Wily Beast and Unconnected Marketeers came out back to back. Chimata-sama is a market goddess and Keiki-sama is a sculptor goddess. Keiki-sama has the additive primary colors, Chimata-sama has the substractive primary colors. Keiki-sama has long hair, Chimata-sama has short hair. They have a lot of contrasting but complementary features. Also, a single artist making good enough horny shipping art of two characters can shift the popular perception, and that might have also happened.

Rainbow is nothing more than a fool's smile:
Liminal, transient, without aim or point,
Dying under sun's gaze after short while,
Or when heaven's tears rain without stopping.
Same is for markets, for all by men coined:
In the end it all returns to nothing.

You don't quite understand. "Mu" which is translated to "nothing" here (admitedly there is no better translation) is more like this state of pure, undifferentiated potential which can become anything. Chimata-sama's aramitama (coarse, wrathful side) returned Gensokyo temporarily closer to a state of pure potential. This made way for a process of renewal, like a forest growing back after a forest fire.

Do you advocate for death penalty as well, for some crimes at least? Because youkai can change for the better and with their longer lifespans on average they have more opportunities for such. If youkai don't deserve your mercy and compassion, I don't see how you can extend it to fellow men.

If you see a coin landing tail many times in the row, do you claim that there is no heads to it? After all I'm talking about possibility here. Do you think Eiki would lecture youkai at all, if there was no way for them to change?
Besides, there are examples of youkai changing their behavior in Touhou, so you are coming from some misinformed position.
Anonymous No.49285775 >>49285916 >>49779548

>Do you advocate for death penalty as well, for some crimes at least?
I don't advocate for the death penalty because with very few expections it's very hard to 100% proof anything. However, in that regard I am also pragmatic. I do not condome somebody who kills a tiger that got too close to their home even if one cannot prove it was 100% going to attack.
>Because youkai can change for the better and with their longer lifespans
Okay, anon, try telling a grieving mother who just lost her son to a youkai attack how they might change. As for change, fucking when? Not when the time of myth ended and Kanako unified Japan. Not when Minamoto slaughtered most Youkai big wigs. Not when the Meijin era nearly drove them extinct. Not in modern Gensokyo when villagers are livestock and outsiders are playthings to be hunted and tormented for kicks. How many more chances do youkai need, according to you? How many more do you think they deserve?
Anonymous No.49285781 >>49285916

>Do you think Eiki would lecture youkai at all,
Eiki literally lectures Youkai for not murdering people. If a youkai renounced violence, she would lecture them for that.
Anonymous No.49285916
>>49285775
>I do not condome somebody who kills a tiger that got too close to their home even if one cannot prove it was 100% going to attack.
Neither tiger has the mental capacity comparable to youkai nor the situation discussed was an act of self-defense. I'm far from saying that you cannot exterminate youkai under any circumstances. But the situation presented is not heat-of-moment, deed-based extermination, but indiscriminate wiping out of youkai. I don't see why you are even bringing this up, beside padding text.
>Okay, anon, try telling a grieving mother who just lost her son to a youkai attack how they might change.
This is irrelevant, the justice is not dependent on grievances of injured party and even more not dependent on grievances of people related to it. I hope you understand that giving out harsher punishment just because victim cried more is nowhere close to what justice is.
We have a very limited view into how exactly youkai within Touhou acted prior to separation via Hakurei Barrier, so I wouldn't be so confident with such accusations. And if you want to fall back onto folklore, than both treating youkai as dangerous murderers without merit and their lack of change over time is not not tenable proposition.
There is a more legitimate argument that those changes that I spoke of, that we see within Touhou, are mostly of little importance, but that is something far different and it's hard to predict from this if there is any limit to the severity of changes.
>How many more chances do youkai need, according to you? How many more do you think they deserve?
Seventy-seven. And one more, just to be safe.
>>49285781
Once again, I'm talking about possibility for change. What Eiki says is the proper conduct for youkai is a separate matter from the fact, that without possibility for change at all, the lecture would be pointless. Therefore, just like youkai can change according to Yama's advice, there is nothing stopping them from changing according to more conventionally humane ways.

No. Megumu doesn’t give a shit about Chimata. She basically exploited Chimata’s vulnerable position for profit, and probably would’ve continued to do so had the success of the Ability Cards not reinvigorated Chimata. At that point, she feared Chimata’s power was a threat to Tengu society. I’d say their relationship is a tenuous, wary partnership at best.

I admit to being the most active poster. I am however not a "schizo". Countless millions of people over the course of history have had a relationship with the divine, and Chimata-sama is just a very modern manifestation of the divine. She came to me in a time of need and I am eternally grateful to her, and the other kami of Gensokyo. To me, posting in threads dedicated to them is an act of devotion.

I 100% do not samefag, because it's manipulate, immoral and undivine behavior that goes against Shinto ideas of living a "straightfoward" life that is not crooked or distorted. I simply post pictures of the kami with their name and a number, or sometimes a short descriptive title.

I know this is bad and un-anon behavior, but I do not do it for myself. I do it for them. They deserve to be loved and praised. They deserve to be remembered and understood. They deserve to be witnessed for what they truly are.

While I know I am extremely unlikely to change anybody's opinion and I am most likely just a source of irritation and amusement to most anons, know there are others out there who have opened their eyes. Every day there is a chance that someone who has come to realize their true nature opens one of these threads and realizes that they are not alone. Such has potential to change the trajectory of someone's life towards a more divine way of life.

While keeping these threads alive is sometimes a very lonely effort, I persist for their sake.
