Really most characters evolve into similar jack of all trades because that's the most powerful class.
Specializations are mainly an early to mid game thing. A lot of late game classes play similar, so I wouldn't worry about it.

After looking at it again, yes the bottles fell into the well because it was empty. Strangely enough, when I used two bottles on a well with water I got a potion of dirty water and a potion of poison. I guess that's a contaminated well.

You shouldn't feel compelled to restrain yourself to one weapon

50s is a good point to be at. If you have pets too, you should be comfortable in nefias trying out a different weapon for fun.
Remember, leveling up different skills still trains your relevant attributes. Go to Mysilia, pump a bunch of platinum into martial arts, and give it a shot.

My main dude's melee is Martial Arts and I quite like it. I use dual wield boxing gloves and using nerve arrow calligraphy on both and then bladestorm on a boss essentially guarantees Suppressed and other debuffs on bosses.

nta I was actually starting a new inquisitor with stuff like this in mind, inquisitor has some great status effect domains and Horome/Nightmare juices 2 of them up.
Not sure how I should make my food though, kinda spread through Str/Mag/Cha/Lea/End in order of importance, was thinking I'd just ignore Will buffing/debuffing and dump mana into summoning mind bits instead. My first character was Str/Mag/Will/End and at the endgame my debuffs were no longer reliable, perhaps status effects will be easier to work with than debuffs.

In Elona, I used the Lesimas fragment on my golden knight (I got the pet way before completing the main quest of act 1) and she didn't get all her stats to 50. She is currently level 35.
To contrast, I used the fragment on a fire dragon child and a littler girl I got AFTER recieving the fragment. Does it have to do with anything?

Crops are still good as nutrition fillers to pad out meals, since thinly sliced fish has next to none.

You call it tedium, I call it getting ahead. At that point in the game, returning home to cook and eat meals is trivial and a triple legendary fish pie can have one or two hundred stats. 20% of that much from just prepared and dining spot is equivalent to an entire mid-game meal.

For Elin I think there's a lot of incentives to not god hop anymore between god faction bonuses, worship duration bonuses and runes letting you more reliably make good lategame weapons. I still go to 15 for the god pets I want though since it doesn't take as much effort and the pets are mostly amazing.

I never went full godwhore gauntlet personally, too tedious and I don't like doing big parties that could use all the god weapons in the first place. Too much to manage and my personal contribution gets lost in the raid party. I think I only did 2/3 gods max if I had an idea for a core team using god stuff. Any pet in elona+ can be taught spells and evolve so they're easily a match for god pets.

I am guessing a truck and better (more expensive) beats seven league boots. The wiki about vehicles is pretty scant but it says the truck gets the travel speed down to 0.36 if you use road tiles... but how can I compare that to seven league boots?

honestly I think it's fine for mod content to outperform base game. mods aren't for first playthroughs, they're for continuing to play the same game but with new options and more content. if seven league boots were still optimal then you'd just end up using them again even though the mod adds all this other stuff

also being able to just buy a truck instead of having to wish for seven league boots gives you another avenue towards moving faster than a snail's pace

finding laser guns and lightsabers and such from prior civilizations or just straight up "aliens crash landed in our medieval-era fantasy setting" is a classic. it wasn't exactly ubiquitous, but it was always there in a decent measure. outside of the TTRPG space there's loads of pulp fantasy writing that plays with the ideas, cartoons like he-man, etc. everyone loved that shit

I think E+ does what it wants to do. IIRC the dev seemed to want a lot of ways to fight and stat grind and there are a lot of spacts, ways to make your character and pets stronger via AP and evolutions.

Whereas at the moment I'm not really convinced the base-building that was supposed to differentiate Elin from Elona is really fully cooked yet. I don't know, my base is a base but it doesn't feel like a city? My citizens aren't gossiping and trying to stab and fuck each other. No one sends a horde of monsters at it. It doesn't have a functioning economy, those kinds of things.

Elona+ is a total conversion mod by another guy, after like 13 years it is pretty much unrecognizable from vanilla in just about every aspect from mechanics to storyline to setting. There are good parts and there are bad, opinions vary.

Nips hate Elona+, you can find jap playthroughs of some obscure omake variant on youtube and nicovideo but not E+. The modder also got himself run off 2ch and shitaraba.

Main nip gripes against E+ include:

-Closing an open source project
-Disrespect for the original material. Wearing Elona as a skin suit and demanding respect
-Copyright issues and sprite theft (E+ was taken down for a while because of this)

The hypocrisy of whining when others do to him what he did to others; decompiling his mod and modding it. He bans from his blog anyone who mentions custom.

650 days but I'm cheating to cut a number of corners so it's not particularly worth mentioning. Even with some cheating to speed things up and the current main story done it still feels like I haven't finished the boilerplate stuff to get my character going yet, chiefly unlocking the right recipe I want to cook and making my own personal comfy base that isn't slavecamp meadow/vernis. I find it kinda insane but still not as insane as making my first character's main base legit(pic related). I've got autistic hours on the game already so I feel fine cheating at this point having experienced the entire vanilla feel, I'll probably cheat harder next time if there's still no inheritance by then.

I usually start with either an aesthetic or build I wanna do then fill out the other half with something appropriate. Depends how much you value theme vs meta.
As the other poster said melee fairy is gonna be on the brink of death often if you cant use your mana as health(executioner). The speed of symbiotes is averaged with your own, so if you speed up like crazy you could have a fairly fast partner on you, only issue if that you automatically have a chance to take damage for them if they're not taunting as far as I'm aware. Stacking evasion apparently doesn't work well in the endgame and one of the evasion spells randomly dumps evasion mist you have to stand in which would be annoying to work with as melee.
I've never actually used Lulwy's bow but apparently it does lightning damage? Dex is used for bows and short swords if you want to do an odd executioner melee/archer/mage hybrid, executioner has cold domain so you can get enemies wet with ice spells and then lightning blast them with lulwy's bow. Dunno how it would go, you'd have to deal with Itzpalt worshipers being immune to ice/lightning at some point necessitating a Knight Piece pet to strip their god bonuses.

~2012: Ano, of the few people to get access to Elona's source, creates his variant, Elona+.
~2015: AnnaBannana, a user on the Elona wiki's forum, uses a decompiler to create a subvariant of E+ called Elona Custom, which translates some untranslated text, adds various tweaks, and adds the custom AI system.
~2016: BloodyShade, another user, takes over maintaining Elona Custom after AnnaBannana leaves due to real life problems.
~2018: BloodyShade improves the decompiled source code from a huge mess into something human-readable. The source is included with the download, so a few sub-subvariants get made. One of these is Elona+ Custom-G, made by Glyphy (also known as Sableye on the wiki forum). I've never seen it take off, cursed equipment isn't that common unless you do it yourself. unlike most god pets she needs a huge amount of work to do what she's supposed to do (blaster caster) when you could just pick up a lich or something. maybe there's a world where she's incredibly powerful after a ton of investment and luck with the miko feat but any pet would be incredibly powerful after that much work. as a god pet she just doesn't meet the standard set by others

I don't think Bolts are good on or off pets in my experience. Spell offense in this game largely consists of slinging either arrows on a single target or tossing out balls, of which I would say earthquake counts) for mass devastation. I get where you're coming from now, I would say I think there's other means of making her stronger though. Not that that's a bad idea I'd just want to look at Kizu's lore and other fox-ish things to see what else could be done.

Apart from some speculation, we don't even know what the wraith looks like yet, because Noa hasn't shown us any. But we have portraits of liches and they look like pale, unhealthy looking people.

My headcanon so far is that they differ in the way they are created - liches have carefully crafted bodies to enhance their magical abilities (the process of creating undead is described in some detail), and wraiths are something like revenants who are too angry to die, so they don't rely too much on their bodies and just stay here when even a very strong and durable lich would be dead (innate mana body 2).
I can also assume that we can only play natural born undead since the higher undead in Elin are weird and alive enough to reproduce naturally and our characters have no racial traits other than being undead (presumably the different way the soul attaches to the body (which makes you undead) is somehow inherited from a lich or wraith ancestor. Otherwise we would have elea undead, eulderna undead, and so on.

There are also some cases, like Melilith, who gameplay-wise doesn't have the undead trait, but is clearly undead. I think it's because she was supposed to have racial traits, or just to make her even more mysterious.

melee abilities so desperately need to be attached to a replenishing resource
maybe "exertion" as a resource that greys out your stamina bar, but replenishes like mana. so crafting and shit still costs stamina, and you can still get haha funny fall down the stairs idiot and Tired debuffs, but once it's done regenerating you're good to go again
or, just make melee abilities strong as hell and put a cooldown on them
adding a whole third resource bar seems not great and regenerating stamina full stop kind of breaks the rest of the game so I understand not doing that to an extent but man stamina just does not feel good

my issue with that is not every melee character is a bigstrongman unbreakable high endurance type, there's the faggy dex "I'm sure to win because my speed is superior" types to consider. I'd throw them under the bus, but I do think everything possible to do in a game should be useful
the reason casting spells works so well (besides being at range which is unironically cheating and not dealing with PV) is that MP comes back without needing to throw down a bed every nefia floor

Hadn't thought about that since I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention or talk about playing an evasion/light melee build. Closest thing is fairy builds but people usually go caster.
You're right though.

Nightmare spellbooks seem much rarer than elemental scar. Makes sense I suppose, strong status ailments and no ubiquitous Itzpalt resistances to deal with for them.

I've never played Elona. I want to try Elin because it's the shiny new toy. I'm high functioning autistic though so this might be for me, but I hate incomplete games. I don't mind it much if it's completed by the time I get to the end, I'm a slow player. Or does Elin have glaring omissions from the get-go?

Elin is a "modders will fix it" game. It's more mechanically robust than Elona and all it will take is someone coming in and reworking the progression routes to enable more diverse playstyles. Honestly, there's a good chance Noa does this himself in the polishing phase.

Play E+ CGX, suffer for a dozen hours, then play Elin and realize how much better and funnier is.
Even if incomplete, I'd consider Elin better.
