The Kaidan to Odorou novel features a "Miyoko Tanashi" whose parents didn't die and she lived a normal life. It even got a manga adaptation, although it came before the reveal that "Miyoko Tanashi" was actually Miyo Takano's real name, so she didn't look like Takano in the manga (this is a later light novel cover)...

The Hotarubi no Tomoru Koro ni manga has a direct tie in with Umineko through a prologue short novel featuring Lambdadelta, in addition to reusing character designs and character name in one case from Higurashi in the story proper. The location where it takes place also had been briefly name dropped in the Higurashi VN once and even had some of its legends that matter to Hotarubi's plot referenced years before Hotarubi itself in a set of Higurashi Trading Card TIPS they released, that included extra TIPS that weren't in the Higurashi VN.

Higabana has one story heavily spinning around Umineko and the dangers of being lost in fantasy, although it treats Umineko as an in-universe work of fiction.

Trianthology reuses Umineko's entire "fragments as stories" set up and has characters similar looking to Beatrice, Shannon and Bern. I think Beatrice also gets named dropped early on, although not related to those characters.

They made Natsumi a looper who even gets a "Witch" personality split scene like Satoko's (although by the end even witch Natsumi is helping the main cast) and yet no red eyes sprite or official card for her (Kito En's guest art for one of the card drew her with something very similar looking to Witch eyes though, but the sprites didn't acknowledge it and the card is officially just a 'True Syndrome outbreak" one).

Well, Ciconia had a much more complex effect scripts than Umineko, which was handled by an outside director/programmer.

As for the music, even though it had much less bgms than Umineko, and even went back to using free ones like Higurashi, all Ciconia tracks were made to order by R07, created specifically for the scenes where he wanted to use them, while previously he just took various tracks from the composers and then figured out where they'd be used.

Have you read Umineko? There are witches that are engaged in a nasty guro heavy romance where the blonde is obsessively chasing Bernkastel.

Basically at it's heart sotsu is attempting to create an origin story for the witches. That's why it feels so out of character. It's plot first, character last.

Canon? Very much so!

1. Both the narrator and the characters remark on how Kanon is weak/unmasculine/looks younger than he is, while Shannon is not ugly or androgynous and the fake tits are the only un-feminine thing about her.
2. Yasu designed Kanon after Battler didn't return to the family gathering. She couldn't see the boy she liked anymore, so she made up an imaginary one. If a male Yasu had created Kanon to "return" to his birth gender, he would have followed a different dynamic. When Battler returned, Kanon took a subordinate role. Because he wasn't needed anymore.
3. Kanon looks like an FtM transgender's idea of a boy. This is very subjective, but I think some will still agree. Also, Shannon is the one who takes all the abuse from Natsuhi, Kanon is the one who cheers her up. Shannon is Yasu's "real self", Kanon is a form of Yasu's "ideal self" (like Beatrice also is). If Yasu had been born male, it would be the other way around; Yasu would feel comfortable being Kanon but would desire to be more like Shannon.
4. Yasu, Shannon and especially Beatrice are written like women. The whole game where she's playing hard to get and trying to make Battler remember his promise instead of telling him is a very woman-like thing to do. Again, subjective.
5. Why would a male baby, who would not have ended up looking like Beatrice 1 and 2, need to be hidden from Kinzo? At no point does he display any homosexual tendencies.
6. The whole "body who is unable to love" theme reads, TO ME, like a reference to the mutilation itself and not to Yasu being the wrong sex to pair up with Battler.
