3D used to be the standard par excellence for vtubers.

2434 did infinitely more damage than hololive ever did. They had a major hand in turning 3D from standard to luxury by saturating the scene with 2D model virtual youtubers. When everyone starting seeing 2434's success with the live2D models they began copying them en masse. The side effect being it accelerated the shift to streaming because a 2D model means you cannot do normal youtube videos and it made the scene more cutthroat because streaming is more demanding on both the virtual youtubers and the viewers.
They in many ways set the foundation for the modern cardboard cutout hellscape and even /vt/.
