As for lifespan, They clearly don't expire as quickly as actual pastry so I'm sure the regular size ones can live to match the lower end of the lifespan of a cat or dog. Of course the biggest thing about Yukkuri is that they don't often live to see the natural end of a lifespan. I guess inorganic was the wrong word. The point is that they aren't creatures of flesh and blood so it's not as gross when they are literally torn apart, and even people who would never harm a living thing can do it precisely because it's not as gross.
