It's fascinating how Sukusuku Hakutaku portrayal evolved over time, and there's a bit of mystery to them, because they're not as well-documented as yukkuris.
As far as I can tell, it started out as just a Keine thing, like a cute transformation, but in later drawings it spread to other 2hus, then seemingly turned into separate entities that just imitate people they like.
What does anon think about this?

Long time sukusuku hakutaku appreciator here
I'm rather certain that the first drawings of these were by the japanese artist "rebecca"
At first a spoof of keine's "EX" mode and hakutakus as a whole.
Then she drew a few of keine's friends as the cute critters
Then spread to other touhous
Then other artists started to draw them too

I have a few of her first doujinshis and merchandise, and a original stuffed hakutaku.
Not the giant one though, sadly....

late response, but nope
The Deka/BIG suku was made a few years after the suku hayday
So around 2010 or before was when the first sukusuku hakutaku plush was made. I distinctively remember pining for the giant plushie, but it was too expensive for me to rationalize importing at the time...

The small one was made before, and I own one. There was also a bunch of doujinshi comics made, and other things like handkerchiefs/washcloths and keychains. I also own a pair of boxers with sukus on them, that's one of my favorite merchandises from the time.
