Thanks for the info. I've never bought fumo before and I'm seriously considering getting a Yuyuko, but I have a couple of questions, namely, I'm deciding between getting this official one or a "classic" bootleg, since I kinda prefer the old design and I'm not willing to spend $200 on a genuine one.
So, how much worse is the quality of bootlegs actually, opinions seem to vary online, also, is there a reliable way to find "good" bootlegs or will it always be a lottery?
Secondly, how rare are Yuyuko fumos? Like, how often are official ones released, if this current one is the first rerelease in years, then that might push me towards getting the offical one a bit more.

Here is a Suika bootleg fumo that is a little oversized (not sure who the manufacturer is) and the middle fumo is my favorite 2hu, nothing happened in Tianamen Square (made by sunningdale trading. They make their fumos out of cotton so they are very soft), both next to the real Jo'on for comparison. I hope this has been informative on bootlegs.

Since we're on the topic of bootlegs, does anyone happen to know what's up with the 40cm Yuuma bootleg? Not too familiar with the bootleg brands besides fumoxfumo since they fill half the search results for anything fumo related at this point.
Trying to find any info on it myself just seems to imply it's potentially unobtanium unless you're in China (maybe TW?), and the only real page I could find that had anything about it was a single facebook post in Chinese that I lost patience trying to navigate with the "please sign in" badgering facebook pulls.

My fumos' butts got a little dirty because of some dust that accumulated on my shelves recently. Rubbing them a bit was enough to clean most of them but I am unsure of what's the best way to deal with the worst cases that I got. Does anyone have small scale fumo cleaning tips? Should a brush with some soap be enough?

You're pretty much just waiting for them to announce the pre-order right now, then another decent bit of time for the purchase orders to actually open up.
Looking back at Nazrin as an example, she was announced around the start of May 2024 at Reitaisai, Pre-orders went up for about a bit in October/November, then she Finally released in mid-late June 2025. and she's still up as of this post.
Just keep an eye on the news/the threads if you're patient enough to wait on the online buy cycle. Or keep an eye out on cons/events Gift's booths wind up at. Since Fumos tend to show up early at physical locations. The Hisoutensoku Cirno was at AX recently, and she's just recently up for pre order on ami.

I'll admit, I am much more careful than I used to be after Reisen fell in that river. After all, you can use camera tricks to make them seem much closer than they actually are. Here, she was 1-2 feet from the edge, so even if she did tip over, she wouldn't have been able to tumble down. I have played around a bit with weighted stands that wouldn't show up in photos, but I lack the manufacturing skills to make a real one.

I echo the other anon's input, I've seen other methods do some really weird shipping costs at times. If your usual post is decent, just go with small air. Just be wary on how they handle foreign imports.
I know the US for example won't attempt a redelivery of foreign imports if you miss the delivery carrier. Even if they leave behind a slip that advertises it, which results in a trip to the post office to pick it up. Not really a big deal, but clearly annoying depending on how far off the office is, or if you're busy during weekdays.

I technically own three (photographed earlier in this thread), which are a Sakuya, Sanae, and Ran. Ran is the most recent addition, but I find myself more biased in favor of her, even though Sakuya and Sanae are characters I prefer over Ran (though Ran is a close third). I think the reason for it is that, of the three, she's the only one that's a legitimate Fumo, whereas Sanae and Sakuya are both bootlegs, and I can *really* feel the quality difference.

I feel a little bad because I still like my Sakuya and Sanae, but the difference in quality is just so noticeable; moreso in weight and texture rather than appearance. I've even considered replacing the bootlegs with legitimate equivalents once that becomes possible again, but it'd feel like a betrayal to me.

It's pretty easy to notice little differences in the details. Every Nazrin I've seen after getting mine has little differences in the ears, the hair placement, different locations of little bumps in the parts where hair meets on the top of her head.
It's all really minor stuff you wouldn't notice at a glance, but you really notice it when you start looking. Apparently one anon has a fumo with an outright different mouth when anons were talking about varying stuffing levels up above. So it seems major differences are possible.

Personally, I love going to places with a lot of either built up history or local culture that thematically fits whatever fumo I'm taking out that day best. Hence bringing Koishi to an ancient and derelict Gentlemen's Club, I was also the one behind that one photo of Flan sitting on a wrecked Twin Tower beam for example.
Then it just has to be a location or item that'd make for a decently-frameable photo. It doesn't have to have perfect composition as long as you're where you want to be anyways. This pic is a good example of that as well but I have some good polaroid shots I've been dying to share eventually too that'd fit.
