Sure, let's talk about how stupid HOPOs, combo based multipliers and anchoring are. Shit, last I checked GH/CH hadn't even figured out a meaningful difficulty scale because they only numerically rate the songs rather than the individual charts. You can scream "but muh weebshit" all you want, but mechanically CH and especially GH was always a complete mess on a fundamental level and anyone that actually plays these games to hit buttons accurately and likes sightreading will have to go with the "weebshit" because for some reason westerners can't figure out even basic shit like what speedmods are for and that putting all the UI near the judgement line is retarded.

Been playing Future Performers for the past few hours, I like it quite a bit so far. They've changed it up a bit, but not exactly for the worst. I miss Ad-Libs. but playing on the Advanced style adds the left and right specific-colored notes which is pretty fun. Don't really like the shoulder buttons notes though, they're just really awkward to hit on a controller. The animated background stuff is cool, but it's funny as fuck seeing stuff like Cirno's Perfect Math Class clips being in so low quality resolution. Story mode is standard High School rhythm game club plot, but it's fine. I'm surprised there isn't more to do though. WWP had missions and challenges and even an online versus (that nobody uses and you won't ever get a match anymore, but whatever), so I would've expected something like those too. But WWP had a lot of support with DLC packs (that I still haven't bought all of) so hopefully they keep supporting the game with updates in the future.
>>49792188
Pic related is my go-to for Groove Coaster, and it has the dedicated buttons right there that'd work perfectly, if this darn thing would be recognized by the system. Still no firmware updates yet, so I'm stuck using a regular controller.

Anonymous No.49829276
>>49827785
No, sows makes plebs wait until the next version comes out in arcades to download the old one (aka n-1), so that profiteers can have exclusives to sell, and so that literal pedophiles in secreter clubs on discord have shiny new arcade games to attract impressionable minors. Secret clubs for arcade data are run by some of the most despicable people you could possibly imagine. My autistic friend used to infiltrate them for fun and leak new games at 1cc.

https://bms.kyouko.moe/ is one of them, pretty nice folder for most common tables
BMS Community Guide in github (or the github page) will give you nice starter packs too which will most likely be in some common tables.
also sows have somewhat nice BOF packages if you have access to it
it's been forever since I myself have touched bms, so sorry for the few resources anon.

Extremely niche + most players are nips with no incentive to rework bms format as a whole.
I'm baffled that even k-shootmania is getting a whole rework and a new file format (which has its whole ton of caveats rn) with better functionality and is going to support both USC and KSM v2, while bms is stuck in pre historic time, and most of its players (read nips) are still stuck in that abandonware who can't even open itself without exploding if you didn't config it right.
Either way it's not like it'll never change (I hope), bmson is a thing and beatoraja supports it. but I'm not quite sure if artist groups are gonna break backwards compatibility for the newer format adoption alone.

I was there twice last year and it seemed fine enough, but I have no other basis for comparison so I'm sure plenty of people would tell me how wrong I am if they bothered to speak.

Wacca died, Ongeki and Maimai seem to be slowed. Meanwhile, IIDX seems fine, a new GFDM cabinet came out recently, and there's going to be a new Popn cabinet soon.

Konami is separating its arcade division from pachinko/casino which sounds like a good thing. They're investing in games more in general. Meanwhile IIRC Sega has moved all its arcade division staff into the consumer division, but I think with Virtua Fighter 6 they're making a game that will be massive in arcades and popular on PC/console abroad. No clue what that means for their other arcade games.

I don't understand why maimai is so popular. It's essentially just a mobile game played on an oversized phone. It also seems hard to do well unless you know the chart beforehand because it's easy to "tangle" your arms.

I may never even pass 10dan (DP). The point is that you stay motivated to keep trying and pushing upwards. This month I've had 4 clears of charts that I've failed for years.

As long as you feel motivated to improve upon yourself, everything else will fall into place.

I guess the songs are charted very well and strong enough that the high end JP audience cares. It's also very tactile (to the point of being too god damned loud IMO) so maybe that's a factor too. Beyond that, no idea. To me, it all just looks like arbitrary busywork that happens to be synced with some BGM.

This is why keysounding matters.

I'm assuming the new maimai will also coincide with its US release since one of the new features is a friend feature to connect players internationally and compare scores and get points for other rewards. They did announce it was coming to the US in the fall, so makes sense to do it with the new version.

Sparkle Shower's release date took me fully by surprise. I didn't anticipate having enough time to complete the unlocks regardless but I thought I would have had until mid October like last time at least. Oh well.
