I recently finished Manosaba and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Ace Attorney. No idea about Danganronpa. The general setting is that 13 magical girls wake up on a desolate island. Whenever a murder incident happens, a trial occurs and whoever is found guilty, gets executed as the "witch". Similar to Ace Attorney, when you object to someone's testimony, you will have to present some object from your evidence collection to prove your assertion.
The main positive for me is the character development. The characters--their backstories and idiosyncrasies--are important during the testimonies. It's not enough to just remember what happened and treat the characters as props. By the end, I grew to like all the girls.
The second positive are the trials themselves. Without going into spoilers, the first few trials are what you would expect basically... Characters give their testimonies and you will have to find inconsistencies and/or contradictions, slowly arriving at the truth. Later down the line, they put a nice twist on this. Instead of just finding holes in someone's testimony, sometimes you will have to lie yourself in order to advance the trial and obtain more info.
The third positive is related. If you fail a trial, it will lead to the suspect getting executed. What I find a bit neat, is that if you advance far enough in a trial, the consensus of who the suspect is could switch as new info comes out. So, at that point, if you fail, another girl would get executed instead.
For negatives, the first one I have is related to the engine. There is no rollback feature.. so save often if you'd like to reread parts. I also couldn't find any button to hide the UI.
The second negative is that for some portions of the trials, I couldn't figure out how to proceed since it relied on some obscure (imo) detail in the story that I just glossed over and there was nothing in the evidence list to remind me. So, when I got stuck, I honestly just brute-forced all the options. Though, I might just be retarded. But, this might be a positive for those who like being a detective and scrutinizing over every detail.
The biggest negative I have with Manosaba was probably the last trial that wrapped everything up. I think it had a good buildup but it just fell flat at the end. When it finished, I thought "huh, that's it?" Honestly, it might have been the weakest trial.
Overall, although the ending was fairly lackluster, I really enjoyed reading it and struggled putting it down at times. I give Manosaba a subjective 10/10. Looking forward to reading Acacia's upcoming works.
>the insanely postive rating is actually accurate?
The story itself is decent and the characters are really likeable. Memorable, too, I daresay.

There's also some yuri bait sprinkled throughout, which I'm sure helped with the positive ratings, lol.
