The discord was on its last legs, as were the /jp/ threads, before Elin showed up. Elona is super old. Recruiting people to it became next to impossible. We did our best to preserve it, but it's not like the shift was intentional. Changing the server owner was a calculated move to help put a tiny bit of life in a corpse the original owner had become unreachable. a change was needed anyway.. Put in place an owner who both still cared and wouldn't try to twist the discord to their own vision of things.

What we didn't know is Elin would exist soon after this change. Nor did anyone expect Elin would explode in mass so violently. We're just managing the fallout now. The preexisting server 'staff' are users who loved Elona from long ago, and most of them don't seem to play Elin at all either.

Basically this. E+ gained the prominence it did because for years it was the only thing English speakers had to play, there were a billion omake spinoffs but no one bothered translating them. Without this monopoly he'd just be another fish in the sea.

There is no reason to give one retard a complete monopoly over your game experience when you can make your own modlist to your exact tastes.

welp after testing the chef's hat out i learned a few things
- it only allows you to go freestyle on the base (as in, first from the left) ingredient. So using a fish or cheese or meat instead grain for a burger for example
- processed, finished meals like snow putit mochis or buche de noels can be used as ingredients
- the additional lag from using the cooking interface in a big hoarder base makes the process painful
- unduplicable

so overall, it's not really that scalable or worth it I think. I mean, there's maybe a use case here for using dupicated blessed hot cocoas or other duplicable blessed foods as base ingredients to get that +50% stat gain bless on more types of food rather than deluxe snow putit cakes, but even then it seems pretty limited from a powergaming perspective

You can play the game entirely as a solo character and still clear Nefias, the main story, and a lot of the random quest board quests without ever once giving a shit about your home or recruiting a single ally. You'll lose out on the value of having tons of facilities you can immediately use, vast pools of storage for your resources, advanced attributes like gene splicing/hosting/riding, passive income in delegated farming/ranching, investing into your own shopkeepers for their own extremely rare materials, and you're also going to respawn in a garbage dump every time you die, but it's otherwise perfectly functional to just be Isekai Hero Man and just fight and adventure your way through the world. Even if you change your mind later and want to make a base, you're not really punished in any way other than creeping tax requirements that increase based on time and fame, which is only a punishment because you'll need to spend later time building your facilities rather than dungeoneering in Nefias or progressing some quest to get more money while having higher taxes required to get ahead.

Right now, with the influx of newbies, it's probably better than it's ever been. It was absolutely trash when Miho was trying to be Elin's AI fox queen. Sitting in the Discord voice channel every day with Rooshi and Kyrie playing BDO for 4 months straight while using macros/auto key inputs to automate Elin. It popularized a Walking meta in EU speakers (getting super food and walking on the world map for legit thousands of years). On top of this, it was like walking on eggshells with Rooshi since he tended to snap at people a lot who would ask questions and obviously super controlling over what the others streamed/played. Kyrie is probably the most helpful one, but he's basically checked out of actually playing the game and instead updates a spreadsheet nobody really uses every few months. I hope they all gone.

The animals that wander in your property are wild so you have to recruit them before being able to treat them as livestock. You can do that by classic recruiting (talking to them with high Favor + CHA check), taming them (by brushing them) or catching them with monster balls.
But in general you just buy them from the Animal Trader since doing any of these require some progress in the game.

They are harmless so you can keep them there, otherwise just murder them who cares. There's also a policy to stop them from entering your settlement

Because the dungeons generally keep scaling up you never really reach a point where your fairy warmage won’t feel pretty squishy
You can mitigate this with good gear and some god boons but fairies really are meant for either magic or going all in on evasion and just praying to avoid all hits
Executioner is nice because it’s pretty similar to warmage but lets you use the fairy's huge manapool as a second healthbar so if you really want to melle that’s a good choice

There is a very clear understanding of who serves who on 4chan, whereas on discord there is a mutually antagonistic relationship where end users (chatters) and end users (mods) are in a constant battle over who is providing for who.

This is a good example of what I said in this thread about not playing melee like casters. Casters only need to stack spellpower and mana efficiency and don't need to care about anything else or think about swapping out gear.

OTOH, I at least need to keep around different weapons for different situations: dodgy enemies, room clearing, huge fuckoffs like yith and giants, etc.

You need to understand how gear comes together and if you're doing dual wield to abuse dim for that 25% hit+crit floor, then stack hit, homing, truesight, frustration etc.

All it takes is a third hand to triple the accuracy gain from dual wielding. For every 1% offhand accuracy a two handed dual wielder gets from the skill, a 3 handed dual wielder gets 1% on hand 2 and an additional 2% accuracy on hand 3. Even without guaranteed hit gimmicks, the scaling on multiple hands is insane.
