With all the other 2hus mentioned, you can extract certain information about their personality from their designs. Marisa is hardy self-sufficient, and doesn't mind getting dirty, which you see from the apron, she is ambivalent in many regards, which you see from her color scheme, has an exaggerated personality, from the size of her hat, and has a cute, soft side, from her big ribbon. Yuyuko is soft, elegant, values her appearance, which you see from her intricate dresses, is a ghost, which you see from the paper triangle on her hat, her pink hair, and the ghosts around her, and is pure, which you see from her vail. Reisen's personality is a compromise between cuteness, goofiness, and seriousness(or at least an attempt at it).
Ran's main features are her tabard(tabards look ugly), her tails, and her hat. The tails and eared hat are simply a reference to her species. The most interesting part of her design are the amulets on her hat, and that's because they are at least intriguing. Yuyuko's design also has elements to suggest her species, but also a fair amount to detail her character.
Now, that doesn't mean you can't like Ran, it's just that her design isn't all that good. It isn't bad either, but it's far from the best.
