I give up. This shit is way too hard. What's the most broken stone combo so I can get my normal 1cc and fuck off?

It's genuinely a really fucking overtuned game with a few really glaring design flaws but most people will just ignore any issues because "hard = good".
Anyway it depends on who you're playing as, but the general goal is the same no matter who you pick. For Marisa you're going to want to pick up Shintoism Wind for your unfocused shot and Snow Blossom or Scarlet Devil (would heavily suggest Snow Blossom but either should work) as your focus shot. No idea what Reimu wants because I don't touch her, just look for shot configurations that put your options in strategically sound locations. Then just play on Imperishable Moon because even after the nerfs it's still an insanely overpowered hyper and is the only one without the many critical design flaws that make the other hypers so frustrating to use.

Agreed. It's better than the demo but now other issues have appeared. It feels like the game is built around ignoring patterns with the hypers and wonder stones. High level clears are of course only using the most broken shot types. The stage 5 midboss looks straight up broken, it's like a Hibachi pattern. Bombing the extra stage's survival spell gives health to the boss. A lot of these patterns feel sloppy and uninspired too. The extra stage was a huge letdown since it's just old patterns but worse and uglier.
On the other hand, the stage design is very strong and the reward for grazing is huge. I love the variety in shot types, even if they're unbalanced. The hypers and wonder stones are good mechanics, but again, it feels like they exist to patch the insane difficulty.
I'm very conflicted on this one. There's a great game under here, but it needed more time in the oven for testing.

I think having the moon one for your main story stone is the best for survival, got my Lunatic 1cc with it.

Reimu with moon top, First blue stone right, yellow gems left, moon bottom.

Moon top and bottom will make you delete bullets that touch your yin yang orbs (occasionally as a passive and all the time during hyper).

Blue stone on the right will make them surround you when you focus, creating a shield that is perfect for the slow precise movement associated with focus shot.

Yellow gems on the left allow you to project your options way ahead of you which in turn let you delete bullets from afar before they come to you.

Both shot types also do very good damage and are quite versatile.

what do you think about blue season for left? The yellow gems positioning seems really annoying

I'm surprised how easy I'm finding it after the trial. The patterns are hard but you're able to get so many resources from the wonder stones.

Is there some trick to them? They don't feel that rewarding to me

I think the trick is to destroy them as soon as possible to keep the gauge as high and summon the next one quickly.
The way they drop bomb fragments and every third one dropping a life fragment meant I was having to use bombs just to keep them from overflowing and going against the stage 4 boss with almost max lives.

NTA but I've seen the combo he's talking about and it kind of falls apart if you don't do it as he says. The whole point of having the blue gems on the right is the fact that they're the ones that are closest to Reimu when she focuses with them, while the "annoying positioning" of the yellow ones is essential for deleting stuff from afar. Maybe you're just using it wrong.

Just tried another run, this time taking the bottom stone that increases damage to wonder stones. Whenever a wonder stone appeared I prioritised destroying it as soon as possible and I ended up with max lives during stage 4.

>Bombing the extra stage's survival spell gives health to the boss
This bug has existed since at least HSiFS and with how long it's been around, easy it is to find, and how thoroughly documented it is I'm half convinced that it's actually just an intentional feature to show mercy to players that can't deal with the survival card rather than a true bug. At the very least, ZUN has had 3 extras to fix it and he still hasn't for whatever reason.

>>49886384
Bomb. Only once if you have Reimu privilege, otherwise you bomb again after the first bomb.

Max lives by stage 4 is good, honestly your lives tend to fluctuate a lot in stage 4 and 5 so it's good to try to remain in the 7-8 life range by the time you reach Watatsuki.

This has been an issue for a long time, ZUN needs to just remove the collision from the extra boss during the transition between their survival card and final card.

Saki's survival is intended for you to end the attack literally right on top of her and he had the sense to take her hitbox away, I dont see why he didnt do it here too

>that ariya spellcard where all the stationary pyramid bullets appear all over the screen at the start
so how do you not die to that when they're all coming out?
i thought just not moving made them appear around you but one just spawned right on me while i was completely stationary

It's not exactly static, but if you find a reference on the screen to where you should stand then you'll be safe most of the time. What I do is align myself with the middle of Ariya's rock skirt thing.
