Died trying to expand to the global market. The good points are that they at least released the game first before the anime and they developed it themselves. Kind of like the inverse Lapis if you ask me when you look at the game and the anime's release date. Gameplaywise though? It's a "command-style real time" RPG. I don't know how to make out of that.

There are many reasons to see why they are doomed to fail. Lapis got knocked out because of the mid gameplay, and the tough competition from other idol projects that had gacha as well. (SHINEPOST felt that as well and whether everyone liked them or not, Konami made the right decision to put them in consoles instead).
Magatsu tried to make itself unique but it's just a little fish in the ocean of JRPGs. In the end, there's only one company every Lapis or Magatsu fan, wherever they are, can blame, and that's KLab.
KLab tried to break out of their own shell by creating original IPs, but in doing so they don't have the wisest decisions in mind, and they are only limited by their own capacity. Add the stiff competition of Mobage in Japan and you can see why KLab's IP never got off.
Right now, they are still in square one and unless they can back themselves up financially, I don't think they will reassess their original IPs as it collects dust.

Apart from how they handled Sensei, what else could they have done to rescue Lapis? Or, even if they did things right like having the game release before the anime, the whole project or even the entire concept was doomed from the start? To me at least, Project Parallel being these related but also different timelines from the start did not seem like a wise decision at all.

To be frank, I don't know. Handling an Idol MMP is an iron man work and KLab tried hard to make it unique. I think the problem was they were dreaming for it too much, and when the pressures came through along with their line in the chart gliding down, they realized they've got into too much shit.

If they are willing to bank on that certain concept, then KLab must've had the money to pull that off when they asked Kadokawa. But I get what you're saying. What happened to Lapis was a fan schism. The anime-onlies who thought that the upcoming game would be related to the anime instead of an all-new original story got left in a bitter note.

The schism is not just from fans, but among the creators as well. The datamined 2nd main story chapter has multiple kisses. They can't make up their mind if they want to pander to harem chads or yuri chads. As always you end up pleasing no one.

What really happened was that Tiara collapsed due to working double as a princess. She also got herself anemia somewhere. So, in that next LiGHTs orchestra, Sensei actually gave Yue the opportunity to replace Tiara in her place one time only as she recovers.
It's literally in the first chapter in the second arc, a LiGHTs and supernova focused chapter, if I may add.

With all the early decisions, yes. Without all the early decisions, it'd still be alive today.

Lapis has everything stacked against it:
Corona when it is holding its first live - I really fucking love the stage effects, it is like in the game/anims
Game outsourced to Chinese when CCP suddenly suspended vidya import license during that period for no reason
Yuribait and Harem-core right when gachi yuri was becoming increasingly popular so there is no audience for such weird hybrid

The magical fighting idol concept is cool and excuted well, the characters are likable, the songs are good for generic anisong, and the turn based battle system NEEDS to be studied and reiterated by other devs. HBR, Madoka's battle system pales in comparisom.

I don't get /mbgg/'s obsession with yuro considering the most popular gacha are not yuri; HBR is an exception and not the rule. BA for example is explicitly het and it's way more popular than HBR. In fact, there are more popular games that are het or yaoi than there are yuri ones.

The Lapis game failed because of the lack of promotion.
They also didn't put enough emphasis on the songs in-game which should have been the whole point. I don't know why they were reserved only for boss fights.
I have Idoly songs living in my head rent free because I hear snippets every day. It's like brainwashing.
