I'm trying to get a bunch of automated seasonings by getting a bunch of cooks and walking around on the map, I've walked for like 6 months and gotten nothing,

There's also a brief pause loading a game where your bags are opened compared to one where they're closed.

This. Plus using it directly from the crafting menu is even worse because it's a transparent background with fewer rows. The crafting itself is fine, it's just the UI needs a bit more. At leasst the storage box has a search bar, so you can disable crafting from and pull stuff out manually. But that's still adding an annoying step to the process in the end.

Just spent a shit ton of time auto fighting a big daddy with a paper staff to train up two handed skill and then I find out it was pretty much pointless as the benefits of two handed skill fall off very early like 40-50

Personally I have almost 1k hours in Elin but it could easily have been cut down by a hundred hours or so if I didn't have to go through 12 different boxes and bags and manage them as I voided

Why make life so hard oniichan, container sorting and conditionals for picked up items are there so items don't get lost in the sauce.
Tab > Ctrl + F already highlights the icon/container with the item you're looking for.
If your inventory is so fuckhuge that your crafting station starts pulling hundreds of hits, you know you can set storage to not use those and instead just shift-click the meat to transfer it to your main inventory and have it ready to use from there.
I like having 3 keys as much as the next guy, but it's adapted muscle memory at this point

Well, the main point of contention is still being ignored as the 2d Grid factually is slower to navigate vs a list. Programmatically and physically with your eyes both. The anon earlier not being able to find the right meat for cooking would be able to find it in Elona because of sorted lists and the name being shown for all items in the list. The grid cannot support showing names of all items simultaneously.

Feels like a huge boost in damage and chance-to-hit especially if you have high crafting and use rubynus, at least on arrows (for some reason +hit doesn't get applied to bolts, bullets, or energy cells)

Kenshi is in that weird Schrödinger state where it's equally great and terrible for RP.
You can pick an activity and base the roleplay around it, or take a side in a big faction war, but everything about individual characters is extremely bare bones.
I personally did my best RP run ever in Kenshi, but it heavily relied on DIY dialogue mods to give my characters more options and reactions to world states, random lines and arguments with each other, new unique characters and game starts...
All of this was easy to do in a simple editor.
Not so bright side is that Kenshi is completely static. It can generate good stories, but once you learned it, any difficulty will disappear like fog in the morning. Training stats and skills is tedious at best, and balance is virtually non-existent. And I say this as a devoted Kenshi fan.
Elin, while not (yet?) giving you the same freedom to destroy factions and repaint the political map, gives you a lot more in a billion small things.
Everything from gods and religion, feats and skills, to unique items, nefias for exploration and crafting resources, base building, music... And it's still early access.
Mods promise to be even more interesting, and there is no concrete ceiling for mods in Elin - it's much more complicated and requires coding, but it is possible.
The only feature I really miss in Elin is custom starts. I just want to throw my character into the world without a plot, but this will 100% be added in the future by Noa or modders.

Are you eating all the stuff you make? Just make the best possible things you can since exp is tied to stamina used. If you're farming then you'll have plenty of ingredients so might as well make use of it and eat/cook the good food.

That's honestly the best way to put it also its a very ugly to game to me aesthetically (Yes, I know its partly on purpose and yes, I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.) but what I think holds back a lot of the moddability and mechanical depth that Elona and Elin has is that 3d engine. Same reason why Space Station 13 or Dwarf Fortress has so many mods and variations of it, pixels are relatively easy to draw and are easy on the computer's processing so you can get incredibly and autistically deep mechanics if you let someone go ahead with it.

The problem with modding Kenshi isn't just 3D, but the FCS editor, which is very limited.
Very few modders can do 3D well, but no one can add scripts to Kenshi. It's impossible. And without scripts you can't add any new mechanics or bypass limitations.
You can make dialogues, factions, world states, weapons and armor, locations and characters, modify world settings... Most of this is easy. But then you hit the ceiling and can't do anything about it.

Elin question. Has anyone else encountered a bug where two NPCs in your party or at your home end up replacing another? No other way to describe it.

I have a younger sister and a little girl, I recently left the little girl at the meadow to train my new apostle. Eventually the little girl ended up following me on the map and into any area I went, with the younger sister not following. I try to go home and drop them both off and pick up the younger sister again but she is quickly replaced. Note however that it still believes the younger sister is following me, and I can't tell the little girl to go home while out.

When trying to find a way to fix the issue I found that while it may be the dialogue on the younger sister that still retains her being in party and the reverse for the little girl, skill books will list the little girl instead when displaying who has and hasn't learned a skill. Putting the little girl in the hearthstone ends up deleting the younger sister with no way to get her back, so does banishing unless the younger sister is in the hearthstone. Would rather not have to banish one or the other but having my main party bugged out is rather annoying especially when sometimes they count as two followers despite only one actually tagging along and it sets my party cap over.

Am I correct in assuming that the material quality modifier affects resident bed performance? For example, would a chromite bunk bed outperform an iron one, all other factors being the same?

The wiki isn't always super clear. I guess I could go dig around in the code for an answer.

I believe riding and symbiosis will auto-recruit a NPC outside the dialogue system too. Could try using that to make them both be recruited, dismiss and check if that fixes dialogue/party status as well.
Third option, if I read your post correctly, is having the younger sister in the hearthstone and then bring the little girl to live at another settlement. Having both in unrecruited state and bound to different places might work.
But I got no clue how the party system works really, if it's just a matter of them sharing the same party slot or just having a flag set it should be fixable but if they're mixed up on the character data level you're probably fucked.

Typically whatever deals the most damage but something to keep in mind is that high luck is more important for weapons with fewer dice. Generally I tend to stick with whatever weapons my race/class has high potential with because that sort of scaling is very important.

Weight a few different subtle roles like influencing dual wielding/two handing, armor class, fairy equipment, pickpocketing, offering power, and probably other stuff I'm not thinking of. It being only a secondary criteria in inventory management is not that outlandish, and Elona was probably influenced by shiren/mystery dungeon games that use a tight inventory capacity as a major game mechanic.
