I wonder if Koto Inari's experience working on this game soured his attitude towards Touhou. I don't see any Touhou-related uploads to his pixiv and tumblr beyond the game's release date. All the Touhou works are gone from his pixiv.

I don't even know if it's true; it is speculation on my part. I looked through his twitter and he has not drawn Touhou since 2019. No announcement or drama. He just quietly moved on. He still draws but his subject of choice veered off to western IPs, Benedict Cumberbatch and centaurs. The bigger tragedy is that he dropped his storybook style in the pursuit of realism.
