just for funsies, gonna try Kasen/Kasen. apparently someone won a tournament like this some years ago, though I have no idea how with the boost and drifting stats

lol, I guess it's not very impressive when they give me my very best map that I already do easily with kasen ^_^;

Yoyo, how so you stand to use such a slippery character like Kasen is beyond me.

one trick is typically that you have to start your drifts very early, because they kinda suck. another is that you can use very small drift inputs to change your orientation quickly, which can help you squeeze your fat ass past hard corners. often, if I'm about to run into a corner, I tap drift either left or right to "sidestep" it. thirdly, you have to accept that you might have to just slow down sometimes: doing so is better than flying off a ledge or bonking into a wall.

or you can just have a good backup character like Reimu who can handle all the hard parts easy peasy!

to expand upon my third point here, Kasen (and many other characters with low drift) actually turns faster when she's NOT drifting than she turns while she IS drifting. so sometimes I end a drift early to allow myself to turn normally, or I even stop a drift, turn, and then start drifting again. this slows you down a lot, but it helps you reorient yourself when you REALLY need it

I may have been here from the beginning, but I'm really not the ideal person to be explaining anything. As best as I can put it: Skydrift has always been liked around these parts, and we had a pretty stacked lobby one time in one of the multiplayer gaming threads that was pretty fun, so not long after another Anon wanted to run another lobby, and then a week or two later another, until we just started doing these regularly. Somewhere along the line someone suggested a tournament since we had been doing these so long and we had a regularly decent turnout to be able to actually do them. And so here we are. We owe a lot to the tireless efforts of our Anons who host the lobbies every week and organize the tournaments. Without them these wouldn't have gone on as long as they have.
I'm sure the day will eventually come when these become a thing of the past, but I'll always think back fondly on the time spent racing with everyone and all the Anons that have come and gone along the way.
