This is just speculation but I think there are three generation of pre-monstergirl monsters:

>2nd Generation: Sapient monsters. As human societies grew, 1st Generation monsters became more and more ineffective. This led to the creation of new monsters who could build their own societies that could match human societies. They could also tame monsters of the 1st Generation. However, endless war isn't conducive to society building so sometimes, portions of this generation found it better to shirk or even go against the god demanded role.
>3rd Generation: All female monsters meant to solve the problem of the 2nd Generation. They are all women, need human males to reproduce, but were a danger to those same men, where they either become murderous after breeding or the act of breeding wit them being dangerous. These monsters were more likely to want to coexist with humans than the 2nd due to this being tied to their reproductive instincts but even then, would accidentally kill their lovers. Unlike the 2nd Generation which could co-exist with the 1st, the 3rd Generation was intended to supplant the 2nd. The very first Demon Lord of this generation led to the setting we know.
