I tried that there's only like 50-100 ft lbs more energy with 300 BLK SUPERSANIC NAS3 110 GR GIGABLAST out of 10.5" barrels compared to nas3 5.56 loads. But because their BCs are so much worse for whatever reason past ~100 yards 5.56 will have more energy along with less drop, less felt recoil, and being able to carry more of it.

I do believe there is a lot of progress that can be made on 300 black supersonic bullet design. But right now unless you're handloading you don't have access to the secret magic

Past couple hours I've been researching shows that the typical barrel lasts between 10k-20k, and of course there are countless variables that can extend or shorten that, such as bad batches, or the occasional lemon.
The inherent issue is outside of military tests done decades ago, no one has actually gathered quantifiable evidence of barrel lifespans and are instead relying on the anecdotes of competition guys, professionals, and hobbyists who all have different criteria for when a barrel is cooked. But as mentioned above, almost every barrel with chrome lining, regardless if chf or not, seems to have an average lifespan of 10k-20k rounds.

there's a paper on work hardening and its relation to stress of the metal it's from I'm reading. Main take way is that it depends on the amount of work hardening done and CHF might not be as intensive a process as we might think (in terms of work hardening the metal)

The reason why you buy criterion is primarily for the way it's gassed and its barrel profile at its price point. As opposed to the more standard
"Government profile" companies push such as DD, Geissele, Hodge etc.
Hodge however is probably the most durable as well as accurate out off all the options with groups starting to open around the 35k mark and beyond.
Hodge is a bit on the lighter side with its gassing but it's most likely because they expect their users to be running it with a suppressor.

3x is pretty much the gold standard, going higher introduces eyebox issues plus the lack of any BDC's with higher magnification kinda makes it pointless. My issue is the 11.5 is gonna be my GPR essentially so getting an optic set-up that's a bit more capable than a rds+mag would be preferred, however since I have the T2 and G33 I could get that Tarac Alpha thing to compensate and through an EXPS3 on the 416.
