In these sorts of conversations, people tend to forget the overwhelming majority of anything ever produced by humanity is complete and other shit, but since AI is usually trained on 10% of good content, so whatever it produces is already going to be better than what most people can produce.

There is no metric, it's subjective. What we do know is that many people think AI art is good, judging by its growing popularity. Some now make a living selling AI art, even. At no cost to good, original artists, I might add. The Ostwinds and Puto Trashes of the world are under no threat. I was just baiting with my post, sadly AI still sucks at drawing guns. Most "art" today is just the rearrangement of established patterns in order to optimize for engagement in a particular market niche. Machines may even be able to do that better than humans, but they will definitely do it well enough to eliminate nearly all human-made art. Just like how all our furniture now is crap made of cardboard and MDF poorly replicating historical styles, and only a tiny handful of people are able to make a living as true craftsmen. People are more than happy to accept a poor quality imitation as long as it's cheap.

All good art is paid for by somebody. Good art takes time and artists need to eat and pay rent too.

AI won't eliminate hobby artists any more than the modern furniture industry eliminated hobby woodworkers. But nobody will care. The few good things that exist will be deprioritized by the algorithm and buried by an endless torrent of computer-generated distraction. And it will be a lot harder to maintain motivation to develop as an artist when some 12 year old can tell an NLM to make a picture that is technically better than anything you can create despite years of practice, and then they will troll you with it.

There's only a small handful of guns in the game that cover the "major categories" (aka, the pistol, the shotgun, the rifle, etc...) but the majority of them are faithfully modeled after real guns, the pistol is a CZ-75 short rail, the shotgun is a SPAS-12, the magnum is a Chiappa rhino, etc...
The ammo is weird though since it's pretty much all fictional but based closely on real calibers, the pistol fires 10x20mm, the SMG fires 8x22mm, shit like that.
Only straight up fictional gun in the game is the double barrelled break action rifle that fires "16x80 NITRO EXPRESS."

Gunplay is very engaging, but far away from being the main focus of the experience. If I were to be making it myself in that same timeframe, even if I still failed to produce a satisfactory result I would have at least practiced and cultivated a skill that would enable me to do so in the future, instead of mindlessly waiting for the next image to generate.
In short, it's only worthwhile if you have no actual creative vision in mind beyond maybe a very basic concept, and rather than creating something or developing skills just want to consume whatever is put in your mouth.
In a single word: slop. I'm not even that great an artist.

it doesn't make "good" stuff. It makes readable stuff that relies heavily on tropes and the vast quantities of literature available to the public, much of which is dogshit. I stopped using it and am writing my fictional works exclusively by my own hand, with edits from LLMs taken under "advisement".

The only remotely worthwhile use I've found for LLMs in writing has been for bouncing questions off in concept/planning stages, as an alternative to bothering a friend or posting in a relevant 4chan thread.

It very rarely actually gives a useful answer, and retrying generally just draws from the same limited pool of outputs with different wording, but I often end up figuring out a solution on my own through it so I suppose it's like an interactive rubber duck if nothing else.
My most entertaining experience with an LLM has been getting it to write smut, and seeing it attempt to describe human anatomy like an alien whose entire understanding of our species is based on third-hand descriptions of how our bodies look and work; it was like those old depictions of animals from distant lands drawn by someone who's never actually seen them in person, except it's in text form, and the animals are fucking.
