Indonesia can't and won't pay their debts to South Korea, but they've been signing deals for Rafales from France and now the Kaan from Turkey.

I don't know why Turkey is giving away production to strategic different weapons to Indonesia either, including drones and missiles. Indonesia isn't politically helpful at all. They're too chummy with China and India alike, and don't even recognize Kosovo.

They're just going to steal the Kaan's tech like they did with the KF-21

Southeast Asia should be a no-go for sensitive and technology transfer

Yeah, Indonesia has a habit of not paying their debt or paying them extremely late. I heard that the Korean submarines and tech transfer they got haven't been paid off yet. Also, their high speed rail way with China is in the same situation and that thing was built years ago.

>>63817980
> What's their endgame?
Build their own domestic MIC after scraping all the data. Indonesia knows that these countries aren't going to do anything to them because they're too big and strategic.

Indonesia will continue to practically scam their partners and get away with it.

> Southeast Asia should be a no-go for sensitive and technology transfer
I mean that's with most nations. Rarely is there an advancement in tech that was exclusively developed by a single country. Most innovation were the result of collaborative effort between the smartest minds the world.

But SEA is stealing or reverse engineering any weapons they can get their hands on. The most notable are Indonesia and Vietnam, but Russia doesn't seem to mind it for some reason likely due to the fact Russia has like 2 real allies in the world. Indonesia isn't so lucky however

But why? Wouldnโ€™t it be a 100 times more beneficial if they donโ€™t try and fuck over the guys nice enough to sell their equipment to them?

The history of how nations form their tech industry isn't exactly built from honest work in some cases, to say the least. In this case, Indonesia are late to the game, so they had to play catch-up, fast.

the question is how the deal is structured. there may be disincentives for late payments built in.

Indonesia is playing the short game by screwing over their partners and they're going to learn like any other nations before why it's a bad idea.

Indonesia has gained tons of modern technology and infrastructure from doing this and that's why they think they're doing the correct thing.

At least they're trying. Not everyone gets to have free unlimited US gibbs without earning it like precious baby Israel.

I see a lot more potential in Indonesia than I do in, say, India. They're firmly third world but they've always been serious about modernization and they're trying hard to bring the place up to speed. Hard when you're an archipelago nation. Parts of Indonesia are literal jungle tribes but other parts are fully modern cities. I used to live their as an expat and they seem to lack the open degeneracy of other places in the third world and at least have some sense of national unity.

Third world shitholes buy a mix match of equipment because they want 'full independence' instead of being told no regardless of logistics.

If they could buy slavshit they will.

Apparently it was a false alarm as it turns out. However the case dragged on for so long and the public opinions from the Korean side have cemented, I don't think Indonesia can brush away the stigma that brouhaha cost them anytime soon.

>On 15 March 2024, for an in-depth investigation, the security investigation department of the South Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency dispatched 10 investigators to the Indonesian engineer's home and KAI office to conduct a search and seizure.
>South Korea is investigating Indonesian engineers for allegedly attempting to steal classified KF-21 "Boramae" fighter jet data. The suspects were caught storing information on unauthorized USB devices and are barred from leaving the country.
>Based on Korean CEO own statement there is no sensitive data on the USB and it is something that is shared with Indonesian team.
>Latest development shows that there is no prove on the technology stealing and it is stated by Korean government attorney.

Will never happen under orange man but previous US presidents failed to uplift the Philippines and Vietnam, turning both countries into economic and military powerhouses to balance the useless wishywashy fucks in the region.

I feel like there's a chance that Indonesia could break in small nations considering that the government can't even control all of the islands. The only place that's seriously modernizing is Java and Borneo. The other islands are practically full of jungle tribes and that's all
