"OrangeMan" and "Brandon" are used in varying ways by both supporters, detractors, and the ambivalent for either. That means those nicknames have real cultural permeation. Hell, while not a nickname the whole tiny hands thing permeated more of the broader culture.
The effect of using names that only have currency among one segment is inherently cringe when they're used in broader discourse among people that aren't enmeshed in the segment that latches onto the cringe thing.
I'm not extremely invested in this, I'm just sperging on the rather funny phenomenon of frankly just not very good nicknames being flung at the wall when the target ought to be very easy to lampoon. Cheeto, Tanner-in-Chief, it really doesn't take much to home in on things that would be broader in appeal.
I unironically feel like males really do need at least two to four years in some kind of male-only environment to understand these things more. It's hard to explain, but anyone who's served or went to an all guys school or something would understand the weird intangibles around nailing a solid nickname, be it positive, neutral, or negative.
