What are the actual doctrines for the war in Ukraine right now?
It's all drones, drones, drones, FPV footage and trench talk.
But it's not like there's no infantry and artillery. And the drones aren't exactly high altitude and deeply penetrating. They're mainly used on the front.
What does the war look in terms of combined arms? How do the elements work together?

From my own layman's opinion
Ukraine seems to prefer and almost decentralised defence with units scattered in relatively small detachments to protect from bombardment. Due to their smaller numbers they have to selectively defend sections of a defence line which always consist of a small network of trenches and Dugouts, with another similar one nearby supporting it. They use drones to reconnoitre and make up for their manpower deficiencies plus conduct harassment like killing enemy logistics and such.


On the assault they seem to prefer well planned actions using small assault units usually supported by a vehicle, and they rarely actually hold the taken position.
Russians basically have to constantly keep pressure on the Ukrainian lines because they absolutely cannot afford to let up. They lost much of their useable armour and can't mass for large assaults. They prefer to send expendable units like storm Z into an area to basically get killed and reveal enemy positions which are then attacked by drones and artillery. If a weak point is identified then they start to trickle in more men, constantly keeping the pressure up, untill they give up or use very rare high quality units to actually try a breakthrough.

Yes, russia has dropped the ball in the past. One of putin's speeches in 23 or 24 mentioned the 300k dead number when that was a thing, indirectly. Had to math it out, but it was aligned with uke numbers, which have always aligned with western numbers.
