humans see more shades of green than any other color, this is why green phos was chosen as the default NV color many decades ago and was until very recently

since humans eyes are most sensitive to green light in particular, it can be a double edged sword, because there can be some eye fatigue which is why some people desire white phos

so with white phos you are kinda sorta technically "seeing less" than with green, but not really, its not the tube that is "seeing less", its your eye noticing less because of the color being less sensitive to white, but the difference is so minimal and unnoticeable that it was acceptable in the NV industry because of the ability to wear it for longer without eye fatigue

so if you want to "see the most" then a unfilmed green phos is technically your best bet

spend the extra bucks and get white if you have sensitive eyes, just buy green if you dont care, its the same thing performance wise just cheaper, anybody who tells you otherwise has white phos worship disease like anon said in last thread

I'd tear the bcg down completely, look for signs of abnormal wear and/or trash thats gumming it up, lube it up, and reinstall. Then chamber a round, and try to extract it with the charging handle. If youre able to do so smoothly, you fixed the issue, if its difficult to clear, look at the brass case of the round you chambered for evidence of a burr then get in there with a flashlight. Best case scenario, theres trash in your bcg, worst case scenario, psa owes you a barrel

55gr will be fine with 1/9 for both lengths. 1/9 probably wont stabilize 77gr bullets sufficiently to not lose BC. 1/8 should be enough to stabilize 77gr projectiles at the velocities achievable in both barrel lengths. 1/7 is way more than enough twist/rpm for 77gr in both lengths.

Got a 2nd hand XPS3-2 one time, it was made in 2009 and I got it in 2023 so it was 14 years old. It had delaminated a little and had let all of the internal nitrogen out. The only problem that seemed to cause is the reticle was a little brighter or dimmer in different parts of the optic when viewed from different eye positions. Sent it back to eotech and they fixed it for like 80$.

Anyways happy Father's Day, I love ar15s, and I hope we see more quality bomb drops on Israel today

So I've had a PSA build for years. It's a standard M4 with the FSP gas block and carbine length gas system. I think I'm starting to wear down the barrel. I've put upwards of 6000 rounds through it. I'm looking for a good complete upper with a free floated barrel, good quality MLOK handguard and mid length gas system. A 1/9" twist would be awesome since i shoot a lot of 55 grain but that might be a stretch.

Is this a good option? the handguard looks kind of flimsy to me

Nah the carbine length gas block and FSP aint working for me. Mounting a light and an angled foregrip on it just kinda sucks. Yeah I could get a barrel and a handguard but then I'd have to pay someone to set up the gas block and attach it to the upper because I don't have a vice grip, or room for one in my apartment. you don't have to keep carbine length gas or an FSB if you get a new barrel, you can get any parts you want thats the point. Basically every mlok handguard now uses a simple low profile gas block and there are plenty of options for good mid-length gas barrels. A majority of gas blocks can be held in by a simple set screw, typically in an accompanying dimple in the barrel. Assuming the handguard extends past your gas block its essentially never gonna come loose if properly installed. You also have the option of buying barrels which already have a gas block pinned in place for a more permanent solution.

if you are capable of exerting 35 ft/lbs of force you are capable of change an AR barrel. Yeah you might have to buy a couple tools, God forbid you may even use those tools for other things in the future, however it would be less than buying a pre-built upper and you can guarantee the QC yourself.
