One year from now, there will be a great reckoning between the /gq/ alliance and the /arg/pire. Be ready, and study Ulysses.

something you need to edit about this, lock picks work great, but you dont really need large sets with dozens and dozens of picks. A big mistake beginners make is they buy a set that looks like it has every profile they would ever need and think they got a good deal, when in reality you wont use 99% of them. The overwhelming majority of locks in the US can be opened with only half a dozen different profiles of picks.

these are considered overpriced, but have everything you need as a starter and they offer upgrade packages
https://covertinstruments.com/products/genesis-lock-pick?_pos=1&_sid=dfb4bde41&_ss=r

you would be fine getting some chink knock off kit, but the profiles in this kit will open 90%+ of all usual locks

Most locks in the US have pretty "wide" openings, usually around .030", in Europe they can be very small, but that doesnt matter for the vast majority of anons on this board
A Short Hook (.025")
A Medium Hook (.025")
A Quad Wave Rake (.025")
A Quint Wave Rake (.025")
Various size turning tools (0.30,.040,.050) which are basically glorified wrenches

these will do most, if you can learn how to rake a lock (low skill, you can learn in 5 minutes) and learn basic "single pin" picking, you will have a great life skill and absolutely amaze people

if I were to add anything to that basic list it would just be some basic tools for disk locks, and maybe some thinner profiles, like a .020 for getting into more locks with tighter keyholes, but beginners tend to snap those easily and arent worth getting until you have gotten the hang of it

also add in these profiles

.020 or .025 "knife"
.020 or .025 dimple pick

the knife will pop open combo locks simply by slipping it through a crack and poking the right spot

I could add more, but these are the ones worth learning to use for the average joe

looks good, I feel like most people will be perfectly happy with that little set, comes in a nice case so you can keep them in your larp gear and they wont bend/snap, raking is not much slower than using a key, and they are lighter than bolt cutters, EVERYBODY should learn it, there are thousands of things locked with dollar store "master"locks waiting to be opened in 2 seconds

one thing you might want to add, "know your local laws", because in some states, I know in virginia, lockpicks can be considered prima facie evidence, which means that if you are caught with them YOU have to PROVE that you werent going to commit a crime with them... yeah ik, innocent until proven guilty does not apply here, its backwards as hell but you are guilty until proven innocent because its a "burglar tool"

most people ITT are scared of power tools, why bother
fwiw you can break a lot of shitty padlocks with a pair of good sized wrenches or hard hits from a ~3lb hammer.
worth noting that saws and grinders are loud as fuck and take a long ass time to cut anything. you can cut those fatmax bars up into a better ghetto halligan too, that's all over youtube.
aint nobody on gods green earth carrying a fucking pinch bar to open doors. I'm not sure if A2 and co have gone to exclusively battery tools but a gas saw will still fuck shit up just as good. all cordless grinders are about the same but the dewalt is the best, fwiw.
if you're at the point where you're considering carrying thermal lances and oxy torches you're either breaking into bunkers and bank vaults or you should just figure out how to use explosives.

most of the things on there are gonna be impractical to carry around, maybe large bolt cutters or a sledge at the most, but the most utility for weight is gonna be a set of picks and wire snipper for like a chain link fence or something

if I know im gonna have to break into something (legally) im just gonna bring literally everything in a vehicle, oxy acetylene rig and all

It's somewhat my "signature" to have reasonable options and then escalate the infographics into total larp status gear. This is merely to capture the full "spectrum" of equipment and make the guides more comprehensive. Take side two of the aliexpress infographic for example. Nobody ITT has an Infiray TOM-E. Nobody's swinging $85,000 for cooled 640x512 thermal binoculars, but it's still cool. Maybe one day, one will fall off a truck for a lot less than that.
>most people ITT are scared of power tools
See above.
>fwiw you can break a lot of shitty padlocks with a pair of good sized wrenches or hard hits from a ~3lb hammer
Certainly. Many of the tools in the infograph are built to do just that.
>worth noting that saws and grinders are loud as fuck
Ditto tenfold for breaching shotguns. Situationally useful for apocalypse larp.
>aint nobody on gods green earth carrying a fucking pinch bar to open doors
I can go find a crackhead or two that would.
>you're either breaking into bunkers and bank vaults or you should just figure out how to use explosives
Sounds based to me friend!

In the heavily paraphrased words of A2, you want reasonably sized tools that can be carried around by everyone on the team, and if the tools are oversized to try and get additional leverage it's diminishing returns and you're using the wrong kinda tool.
Rams and such only make sense if you got a car to get you there and a team to breach the location. Most residential buildings in the US for example are extremely flimsy and can be breached with far lesser tools. Even a regular halligan can make easy work of commercial doors. The jumbo halligan at the bottom is meant for automobile extraction and is no way practical for rucking in the woods to breach an Appalachian methbilly fortress.

hey man I have no problem with what you're doing, we're all here to have fun. some of it just caught me off guard lol
oh yeah, automatic center punches work GREAT for breaking glass if you aren't already carrying a automotive style strap cutter/ glass breaker.
we could probably sit here all night and come up with various tools to break into buildings, it's arguably endless.
a good 90% kit is probably a halligan, that little lockpick set, and some kind of wire cutter.
maybe worth considering a heavier pair of gloves depending on what you're doing. everything is hot, sharp, or both and most tactical or mechanics gloves really do not have the cut resistance if you seriously think you're gonna be moving lots of metal.
anyway it's a good guide, I don't mean to ramble at you

Absolutely, it's a super complex field arguably more complex than body armor, and as you all have seen I can go on for hours about that shit if I wanna.
>a good 90% kit is probably a halligan, that little lockpick set, and some kind of wire cutter
Sounds like a solid plan. If we're moving in teams I'd add an axe or maul to function as married irons and enable driving.
>maybe worth considering a heavier pair of gloves depending on what you're doing.
Shit now you've giving me ideas for a glove infographic...
>anyway it's a good guide
Many thanks! I'm hoping the eventual night vision and thermal guides will do the same thing. Will probably end up splitting that "one" into four.

2. Analog NV
3. Digital NV (blargh but we're partly /pfg/ now so I gotta show the field on these so people at least buy nvg30s and don't get burned on the NIGHT OPERATOR WEEWOW fusion bullshit)

But what is the root cause of this sadness? We are but gear queers. We discuss gear... and there's no discussion of gear. Only people. People are but sand in a desert. Fleeting and evasive like bunkbed guy, long gone and long missed. The sadness pervades us, penetrates us, emasculates us. Gear is eternal unless chinese and we are now chinese. We are temporary.

What is the purpose of our struggle? To talk about the same vests and placards again and again and again? What existence is this? It is but purgatory in the fast food bathroom. Generallg unpleasant and sad, but occasionally stinky. Oh so very stinky.

We should call it quits. Without bunkbed guy /gq/ is meaningless.

I think /k/ in general is a victim of itself. The smarty-pants shilled for going outside and learning stuff and I have a feeling people who actually did that have fucked off from /k/.
I drop off for a few months at a time but even then I have to come back here for the niche autism to ask questions about German G3 mag pouches and what not.

Also infograph man, please keep up the gud work. I throw those at my friends who ask for advice on shit. Your work matters.

I agree, but commo is predicated on having someone to talk/listen to. I don't have homies with radios, so effectively my Yaesu is a desk ornament while I listen to trains with it.

It's pretty clear he's either an unironic teenager who's too young to own guns or he's prohibited from firearm ownership due to mental illness. He probably can't enlist for the same reason and his concept of what is 'affordable' is worse than that of a welfare nigger in section 8 housing. The faggot can't fathom paying $30 for a mag pouch and unironically searches out $10 chink replicas because $20 is a lot of pocket money for him. He never includes surplus in his stupid little pictures either because he watches hours of milsim airsoft videos full of manchildren dressed in chink repro Crye gear and in his deluded mind he thinks it's a sound financial decision to buy a shit-tier toy Navy SEAL dress up costume and 'breaching tools'

By the time I am at that stage I have already decided on the parameters of what I want so I'm just looking for some brand recommendations. I've probably already checked out the big ones so I'm hoping there is some company I overlooked or forgot about.

From my outside perspective it seems like everyone here either already knows what they are doing or is set in their ways. There aren't enough new people asking questions so it's just you, I'm guessing three or four guys, hanging out with each other and getting pissed off at your slight differences. Maybe the riots and Iran will drive some more traffic in here, I know the covid/blm era was pretty great in here.

They're certified Level IV, lighter than the 4403s, and also rated for 7.62x51 M80 six times so you make no compromises on multi-hit versus a good III+ like the 19513. I like having full Level IV headroom, especially against M80A1. I'm a touch poorfag but I'm strategic about it, the full set will be somewhat more than my thermal.
L210s will be repurposed for something else.

0101.06 is dead so the certification doesn't mean shit. I think that FIT tests are already over. Also, Hesco's "certifications" have historically been a bit iffy. 4400, 4401, 4402(?), 4403. . . .
Why not just wait for the new CPL and get a plate with a current certification, if that's what matters to you? Put your money where your mouth is and buy some light+cheap Militechs in the meantime, lol.

4400, 4600, 3410, 3610 IIRC were the problem plates. All were resolved timely and peoples' plates were recalled / replaced. 4401, 4402 (this was basically not released), 4403 are all fine. Ditto for the rest of their lineup 0101.07 will probably get delayed again and I'm not waiting that long.
Militech straight up lies as to why they have no certs. Even though their plates perform well, that's a red mark.

Any advice on acquiring a legitimate Gorka 4?
I know Kommandostore creates their own better versions, which I'll nab when they're available, but I'd like a true anorak style too. Would Demych or greyshop be the way to go?
Preferably new because I don't want to wear the user clothes of an drunken inbred rapist.

Covert Instruments Genesis set is good quality for 25 bucks, it will keep you occupied for a while. You can definitely save a couple bucks buying from another company or from amazon and get a few extra profiles, but a basic rule of thumb is that if its marketed as a begginer set but has 6 gorrilion different tools odds are 99 percent of them are useless. Find a begginer kit with a few different rakes, hooks, and turning tools, and you will learn what you need to branch out from their off youtube.

just use whatever cheap pad locks you have laying around or get some master locks from the store to learn the basics, then watch some youtube and find some slightly harder locks

you can get some clear locks for cheap on amazon so you can see whats going on to get started single pin picking, but once you get the hang of it you wont need to use it anymore, so just get no more than 3 different brand clear locks to have a small variety to get you going and then just get some real locks off facebook marketplace or yard sales

WHAT DO I BUY?

I'm looking for a taper mounting QD muzzle device/mount pair to attach one universal 30 cal can and swap it between five different barrels. What's the best option? Already have the guns and can (DT WLVRN & Hux Ventum)

Priorities:
>actually in stock somewhere
>repeatable PoI shift after mount/dismount
>small PoI shift between mounted/unmounted
>hub compatible
>matte finish (fuck you, Q)
>lowest priority is cost, but it'd be nice to have something not a gorrillion dollars

Seems like silencerco ASR and deadair hub mount are the best according to internet memes but I don't have experience or data to actually quantify that.

Once more I have had another dream of the /gq/ meta, but this time in 2040. It came to me in a dream after I had too much Benadryl and shit my brains out.
>The year is 2040. Everyone is rich and simultaneously broke - with everything they could want and debt up to their eyeballs to show for it.
>Money is abolished. Crypto is completely mainstream and regularly seized for nefarious reasons by the federales.
>All based men now use the barter system, with a couple neckbeards in the corner using silver and gold but are unable to figure out if it's legit.
>Aliexpress becomes even more based and begins permitting the barter system using tasks. Do tasks for the Chinese overlords, verified by their surveillance drones, and you are shipped goods in return.
>/gq/ men hide in tunnels, except now expanded with all the luxuries one could want, including air filtration, sanitation, and air conditioning with running water and electricity.
>The meta now revolves around increasingly more powerful Chinese replica dazzlers.
>Released two years ago in 2038 was the Somogear LA-22/U, now 500mW and with an override on the ranging safety.
>It can blind men in a single flash.
>War has changed. We now use melee weapons. Katana, Naginata, Rapiers & daggers, spears and mauls - even fire axes. This saves us bullets, which are tracked and reserved for extreme situations.
>They even stopped making most common calibers. The M7 rifle, unable to pierce Militech's Super XSAPI Supremes, has been replaced by the 8.6mm NGER, next generation enhanced rifle and asteroid-mined Iridium alloy bullets.
>The US pays a shitload to Martian Emperor Elon every year for the Iridium.
>To handle ranged warfare, we use dazzlers. All kinds of dazzlers. Blind the enemy and close the distance in the tunnels. The overworld is a death trap anyway, nobody except the NPCs have been up there in years, so it's easier to just melee your enemies.
>/gq/ elites get the yellow laser GLARE.

How budget are we talking abou?

Arbor Arms used to make a complete budget belt setup called the Good'nuff Belt. Sadly it's discontinued, but you can start with their Ultralight MOLLE belt ($40) and add some good pouches (Esstac). If you want to pay less, Amazon and airshit brands will have stuff. It'll last a little while. Replace components as they fail.

Not here to start fights but that literally isn't true. My PC is a literal 10$ yard sale purchase I that use duct tape and thread I found in an abandoned building to keep the armor in and it holds up just fine to regular hikes in the woods.
And I know I'm not THAT good of a craftsman.

Its not just a digital camera, it sees a whole different wavelength. Plus everything has heat including the scope itself, if the photon sensors were too densely packed they'd detect their each others heat which would create noise in the image, this is why mounted thermals are generally cooled. Its all getting better though. Another factor is demand affecting economy of scale.

Depends on what youll use it for. If you're frequenting this general you probably want a plate carrier so you can attach all your cool collectible items on one rig (and totally have an advantage in the booger). if you just need something to hold a few items and magazines because you participate in 2 gun then a chest rig is what you want.

NV question here since theres no /nvg/gers thread atm

If I am cross eye dominant(right handed, left eye dominant) which eye do I wear my PVS14 over?

I am told that the army teaches that you should wear the NV over your left eye in case you need to use white light to shoot your rifle normally, but I assume this is intended with right handed and right eye dominant shooters in mind because they are the overwhelming majority

does cross eye dominance give me an advantage here? since I can have my monocular over my dominant eye and still be used to shooting right handed?

The infographics are a good starting point for noobs. They're certainly much better than the old infographics, which were little more than a collage of items with no info regarding why you'd pick one thing over another.

Problem is, seems like there are very few noobs coming to /k/ anymore. I hang around various corners of the internet, and there's far more (and often better) discussions about guns and gear other places. Discord, Telegram, Xitter, even fucking reddit.

Most of this board is kids from countries where you can't even carry a knife or OC spray, never mind own firearms.

But now we're at a point where the dude is listing the sorts of shit that no one in this thread is going to be using or getting their hands on. The infographics were useful once, but are now so bloated with fluff that they're not worth using anymore. The autist making them really made it his life's purpose or something to the point he's constantly updating and tweaking them, so they're massively inconsistent too. Guy needs to take a break and refocus on the essentials. I mean the fact that there's an infographic for fucking jammers but not one for what to put in an ifak is fucking ludicrous.

The ponchos are literally 1-3 layers of thermal insulative material. It's not rocket science and they can be made in a garage with basic equipment & materials... hence why there's like fifty models out of Ukraine. Ebay also has super strong buyer protections, so if they ship shit file an INAD and make the bitches pay return shipping.
Besides that the Indiamart infographic is clearly a shitpost, Pragati needs to get certifications before they're really trustworthy. Their specs however check out for being SiC+PE or B4C+PE layups. They're fairly mid plates given their compositions. Better than your average Hesco (almost their entire white-side lineup on paper), competitive at the high end (Defender M993) with a twelve year old LTC plate. They aren't slinging four pound standalone XSAPI bullshit like Rook Armor a few threads back.
There's no channel for buying Pragati / SMPP, so they basically are shitpost material. The Aliexpress guide is more serious but has my signature "joke options" here and there too. Nobody should take the $85,000 cooled thermal binos seriously. I like to have a little fun and include oddball shit. This isn't P&S, doesn't have to be 100% serious all the time for everything.
>>63851307
Don't worry, IFAK guide is still a work in progress along with updating belts / mag pouches. I prioritized jammers because they act as a foil to the three radio infographics and also because they aren't really documented anywhere else in an infograph. You can go thirty places to get an IFAK guide. It will be done, though.

Honestly anon, it really does come off more as trolling at this point. If that's what you're trying to do, then more power to ya, but if you actually want to try and be helpful with these things, maybe re-prioritize you shit a bit to give the basics a higher priority since the infographics are meant for beginners.

Certainly, like I mentioned before the IFAK, belt kit, mag pouch guides are upcoming. I'll happily admit I am biased towards my own poorfag interests, hence why we're stacked with armor, radio, and chinese infographics but are thin elsewhere.
I do try and orient the infographics into a beginner (beginner radio, /bag/ infographic baganon made, the ones you're talking about) then advanced with /bag/ supplements and the advanced guides. The Aliexpress guide, on the other hand, is literally meant to be a grab-bag "takeout menu" and is all purpose.

Well, I hate to tell you this, but that doesn't really help anyone. If you're going to make these things for the benefit of yourself mostly, you don't need to continuously post them here. However, if you're actually being serious about helping people, then you really need to get your head out of your ass and actually focus on the shit that matters to the MAJORITY instead of your niche interests. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I'm just voicing my two cents on what you're doing. This seems really important to you and you spend a good amount of time at them, do it right.

The ones that work are absolutely NOT 1-3 layers of thermal insulative material. Do you really think it's that simple? Every military in the world has been looking at this problem, and it's a lot more complicated than you think it is. Why do you think there aren't already 100 US vendors? And why are the credible ones, like Saab's Barracuda, so tightly restricted?
This is exactly why you should stop spamming retarded infographics. Also lol at "Pragati". You'll shill any retarded shit that has a website or eBay/Etsy profile.

As the infograph clearly expresses, they exist on a spectrum of price and effectiveness. The more advanced models obviously work better and are much more complicated, I was merely referring to the cheapo $200-500 Ukrainian ones with the 1-3 layers line.
They work for a relatively short span of time and at long distance. Gotta keep in mind we're partially /pfg/ and all bases need to be covered, including cheap mediocre solutions. Why? Better than nothing in certain situations.

I've tested just about every variety of thermal insulative material, spacer fabrics, survival blankets, fiberglass mats, metal foils, etc. Under a generic handheld FLIR camera, NONE of those materials, alone or in combination, worked worth a damn.
There's literally zero chance that some random shit from eBay, exported (lol) from Ukraine, isn't a dud.
Also I know that literally every military in the world has run far more advanced projects than my own, and there's a very good reason none of them are issuing thermal ponchos.

Obviously putting a mylar thermal blanket over yourself is going to conduct and start heating up pointlessly. But most of these people building gnome cloaks are trying to create standoff and/or insulation to reduce this conduction. It sort of works when you're innabush, none of it works inside a house or in a clear open field. The early SAS TIC suits created pockets of lofty air around your body to slow thermal conduction into inner layers. Obviously this is flawed from the start since any insulation traps heat in and you will heatcat out if its anything close to hot out.
>Military projects
Mostly glass nanospheres doped to match the emissivity of the surrounding environment and provide scattering. You can see the sticky finish on barracuda that is the epoxy holding these to the fabric. In pic rel you can look at my knee/calf and see the edge of a barracuda net that is stood off of my body. The center of a barracuda will do vastly better and if the thermal imager is >5ft away you are going to more or less melt away into the background
>Issued ponchos
Eh the early TIC suits were basically that but less improvised. UCLANS is basically a gigantic standoff net with sometimes barracuda. Relv eclipse panels are more or less that and work effectively even with limited standoff
>DIY testing
There are some solutions out there with fairly accessible materials and methods but yeah, thermals be difficult

Very interesting. Do you have test results handy?
The issue is that thermal ponchos are a half-measure, sure. Imagine if the only armor one could buy was crappy 8.5lb AR500 steel. Everything else is magically locked away from civilian hands. That's the thermal evasion market for civs right now. It's a lot of cope and half measures with no alternative products unless you're $$$.
And I bet if that were the case for armor, a good chunk of people here would still wear steel. If you have no alternative, you'd wear the poncho, keep your exposure time to a minimum, and your distance from any thermal sensors to a maximum while relying on concealment as much as you can.

Vast majority of their tools are cheap castings with fiberglass handles under the guise of "non sparking" . They are just under harborfrieght tier quality and come with the gayest backpack that sucks to walk in. Half of them coming with a "not for use on steel doors" warning card is also a recipe for someone getting impaled by a snapped piece of shit blackhawk. The bolt cutters are quite literally harbor freight. The axe is exactly what you'd find at a hardware store for $80.
They are $50 harbor freight tools wrapped in $800+ of "tactical" and give departments a false capability. If I found one for like $50 at a pawnshop id buy it but its nowhere near its pricepoint or near useful. People would be better served by taking that same $1300 to harbor freight, breaking those tools while practicing and using the remaining $800 to buy a couple good tools vs a kitchen sink worth of poverty tier garbage.

You can find it sometimes, you can buy relv otherwise. Its really not that expensive or difficult. If you find a yuge piece of baraccuda you can cut it into screens, hemm the edge and create depth/standoff from your position to basically disappear from thermals. Doing it in 3D while moving is whats actually hard.

First hand, ive hunted people with thermals who have had relv vs those who didnt. It works when properly employed. None of this shit is make a pair of trousers and walk around like nothings going on tier. But the difference between like usgi individual camo net, mosquito nets and relv netting very appreciable.
