And of course the US just acted in a bunch overly obvious, publicized ways to show the world that it definitely doesn't want a war with Iran, so if "Iran" did something to the US now - say, terror bomb a huge, patriotic US Army birthday parade - that would inflame the US population like Japan attacking Pearl Harbor, wouldn't it? With a country so divided, it would be advantageous to someone in power to create an external enemy Other for Americans to unite against, would it not?
