Only in basic training. After that there are specialized units / positions for big ceremonies. Honor guard is its own AFSC / MOS. You will never ever be told to do that stuff again outside of change of command ceremonies or funerals. The US doesn't like wasting time on dog and pony show stuff.

I've been saying this for days. America has a very distinct march. Its more of a saunter than anything. And they are kinda notorious (since at least WW2) for not marching well. Its kinda like an intentional thing.

Its only Marines who march in the European style, and thats because of their history. Marines were responsible for maintaining discipline and order on ships so iron discipline (and thus tight marching) is part of the Corps culture.
