What's the plan for 2027, face the chinese with E-2's and super hornets without satellite support?

He can’t cut orders. Congress makes the final call when it comes to military procurement. The Air Force had to stick to the a10 because congress forced them to. But regardless, Pete is a retard that probably wouldn’t last until the end of the year. There are rumors about the administration already looking to replace him after the whole signal fiasco. He is also getting cooked in congress for not even being prepared to answer the questions.

I get that this is a bait thread but the us already has hundreds of F-35s and a satellite network.

Cuts do need to be made if only to free up budget to fix the navy’s myriad of fuckups.

Even the most die-hard MURRICA #1 /k/tard must admit that large, long-ranged assets like the J-20 and J-36 seem to overmatch the relatively small F-35 with it's medium range missiles and relatively modest kinematic performance?
I don't really see what US carrier aviation will do without a new 6th gen air superiority plattform (which they are not even thinking about, F/A-XX is again multirole slop)

Funny that you mention it, I think McNamara's biggest problem was that he was TOO MUCH of a bean counter. Guy was a massive sperg who spent all his time reading through spreadsheets and consistently failed to factor in the human element. Hence why he believed that North Vietnam would cave in with relative ease. He looked at it as a mathematical equation and didn't understand that the North Vietnamese saw this as a struggle for their very national existence.

What does Hegseth have to do with budget line items? The U.S. forces have to do with a lot less budget then they’d like, and the DoD is trying to hash out which priorities will take what budget there is and then hash it out with Congress when the budget request goes out. Hegseth is just a suite, he has nothing to do with the process except to be in meetings and pretend to be in charge to the President.

BTW Hegseth is completely surrounded by enemies in the DoD and I don’t know how he breaks through it except to fire everyone several layers deep from the top — and even if he did that, where would he even pull loyal people or even just neutral people from? The left has almost completely taken over the Federal bureacracy (except maybe for DHS) which itself is a reflection of the almost total power the left has over society in general. The reason why the DoD staff feel safe rebelling is because they have a sense of herd immunity and the wider system having their back. Maybe Elon’s support could have been better leveraged in doing regime changes in DoD and State — but, in reality, the courts would have shot down any attempt to do mass firings so I guess it doesn’t make any difference.

It’s a wider topic on how Trump gets back any power to do anything. Probably the only way is to surround himself with MAGA crowds and militarize them into a militia able to break down the power structure, but that’s clearly not going to happen. They’ll try their palace coup, fail, and turn into another lame duck admin.

Trivial. Just go into the forces and ask around for the people who complain all the time about stuff being inefficient.
Rank doesn't really matter, basically any officer will do, desu the lower the better.
Then staff the DoD with these people.

That depends. As the DoD continues to rebel stymieing Trump’s will at every turn others in the GOP will take the opportunity to attack Hegseth as if it’s his fault Trump’s foreign policy goals are being squashed by the DoD never being able to do anything. That is also Rubio’s fate; it’s less in the media, but every indication is that Rubio is completely isolated at State and Trump’s policy goals get 0 traction.

I mean the DoD can do things at a timescale of like 10-20 years.
They can't do jack shit in 4 years.
Any change they initiate now will have consequences in long after trump is out of office, and most of it might just get reverted early in the planning phase before it even moves anywhere.
That's why these day-to-day politics theater things in the news are totally irrelevant.
It's also the reason why countries like china overtake the US conceptually, state run companies do as told and if not heads roll - it's more efficient for military procurement, especially if you have *a lot* of ressources and a clear goal: kick the US out of your front porch.
I don't think the current US society structure is capable of countering that momentum.

This is the usual authoritarian fantasy. There is no evidence that a hierarchical structure where those lower down "do as they're told or heads roll" is more efficient than a less centralized or authoritarian organization. In fact, the evidence is often completely contrary to that claim, but that doesn't matter because an authoritarian retard feels that the claim is true.

That I think is the bigger problem facing the US, it's literally impossible to criticise bad planning and monumental fuck-ups without hitting a wall of pure ideology and smug self-assurance.

>>63837442
>none of that matters without wartime experience and logistical expertise

I'm so fucking tired about reading about this cope. I remember Russiaboos in the 00s talking about the innate Russian fighting spirit that would overcome the American dependance on technology to get the job done - it's not how you prepare for wars and it's a strategy that was comprehensively undone by the Boxer Rebellion.

If China gets a tech advantage then that is a HUGE problem for a so-called global superpower as a point of principle. Especially one that would want to settle the issue of a rising China off its own coast.

>>63837725
No he signals (heh) what scenarios need to look like and reviews the options along with the final bid. This isn't a two-way conversation between the pencil pushers and congress you fucking loon and you can literally watch that on your computer when he goes up to try to sell the bid.

I'm a bureaucrat in a different area but I can tell you that even a junior in the administration would be able to influence results across the whole process and set clear steers on what needs to be included even if it doesn't conform to the fiscal reality. That's how vanity projects and sunk costs survive and why flagship programmes of a previous post-holder are always dangerously close to getting axed.

He's absolutely right though. The F35 has some advantages for where it can operate from which make it great for multirole/defensive missions but it continues a range issue even in the C variant that puts carriers at risk and it would be pushed to fly missions over Taiwan from Japan/Korea.

It's the perfect jet otherwise to shit on North Korea or at a push nuke Russia from friendly bases. But there's a reason Japan is working on a jet with a much longer range.

Yes my sources being:
Having a high IQ
Reading the news
Watching various committee meetings
The media presents the narrative that everyone under Hegseth is in despair at how incompetent and how little leadership skill Hegseth has, including someone who "is in tears" etc. That suggests to me a situation in which Hegseth;s staff is full of enemies, including the woman who feels she has to cry to reporters to impress upon how them how bad Hegseth is. Coordinated sabotage with the Signal event. These are the actions of enemies, not neutral parties who are concerned about their boss’s ability. They are not jockeying for position, trying to look good, etc, they are trying to get rid of someone. That’s why Hegseth has angry gone after certain staffers and reportedly threatened to bring in polygraph tests etc, fired those people, and so on — he’s dealing with insurrection in the DoD while trying to put on a public face that he’s in control and everything is going according to plan. As this continues there will be those in the GOP who will take aim at the secretary role, this is certain. Keep this post in mind when it starts to happen.

To be clear, the job of Secretary in the Federal bureaucracy is meaningless. They’re just suites who are in meetings and pretend to be in charge but in reality everything is delegated to middle management and all they do is public messaging. Literally every single person in this thread could succeed as Secretary of the DoD, it’s just a ceremonial position in today’s society. Think of them like CEOs of large corporations — what do CEOs do? Do meetings, do marketing, talk to shareholders, that’s basically it. No matter how many CEOs are brought in a struggling company will never get better, because CEOs don’t actually have the power to change anything. Actually that’s a bad example because the Secretary has even LESS power than a CEO. The only reason why ANY of you have a strong opinion about Hegseth is because the media has given it to you. At LEAST Hegseth is popular with the troops which is more than can be said for most in that role, but that also doesn’t matter, what matters is that he’s outside the power structure so he’s an enemy that must be purged.

Deflecting was the correct action. Those hearings are complete wastes of time, just an open government ceremony which is used only for messaging to the public. If you watch them you can get interesting hints and insights that the media glosses over, like how it was revealed that Rubio is isolated by his own staff in State, or how 85% of the changes for the Constellation were from the shipyard not the Navy, etc, the fact is from a political standpoint their only purpose is to score points / get in the media attacking enemies. There is no reason whatsoever for Hegseth to grant media space for his enemies, so deflect and waste as much clock as possible on the answers, etc, it’s just a game. What the media won’t show you are the other half of the members praising him and Trump because that’s not the right message. I do recommend watching these hearings, but not via media, go watch the streams if you’re interested and have the IQ for it.

This take you're repeating is largely retarded fuddlore, and at best is a gross oversimplification to the point of ignorance. I used to repeat it, too, before doing the smallest amount of research. If you don't want to keep sounding like you have a ".22 bounces around inside the brain!" understanding of the history of defense policy, start here:

The Fog of War: 11 Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara
Part 1: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/xw68h9
Part 2: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/xw68z7

Also, here's a panel McNamara was part of discussing nuclear war and deterrence policy following the broadcast of The Day After: https://youtu.be/PcCLZwU2t34

Then read some books.

The guy wasn't perfect, but he was one of the better SecDefs the United States has had.

What is destressing for me is that even the non-DoD stuff is getting squeezed in ways that are just treasonous. Take NASA cuts to 50% of its science budget that just hands the solar system to China and fucks over all of the NASA's partners or science generally which thanks to fuckery just stop-started science in the US and left the whole industry in the lurch while China steps in to look after now marooned scientists.

You couldn't destroy US power harder if you tried.

1. No. SpaceX wins contracts, it's not going to stop China's Tianwen-3 from detecting Martian Life first in 2028 because the US didn't think Rosalind-Franklin should go ahead when the instrument was already built and the mission was ready to go. The sheer amount of missions that have been science cancelled means that the end of the decade is going to be pure seethe as Chinese missions become the only game in town and with it first dibs on all the data for China's academia which will institutionalise the loss over a generation.

2. NASA isn't allowed to have rockets, it contracts that out. But yes, if Elon Musk had followed through on his threats then the US would either have to go to Russia and beg to be allowed to do Soyuz launches again or use Arianne.

The Pentagon has nothing to do with it. The DoD wants money and doesn’t get enough. Congress is torn in too many directions and therefore does not have the strength to give the DoD wants it needs to satisfy all of their priorities. So the Pentagon is stuck trying to figure out which of its priorities are must-have vs really-REALLY-should-have and request a budget in-line with what may be accepted in principal by Congress. The military is in a position in which all the major fat is gone, and it has to lose core capabilities. It’s just reality today. For example, keeping the AWACS is a priority for the USAF but they have no choice but to let it die in favor of satelites which is a downgrade (unless Congress decides differently when the budget comes out). You want AWACS you got to pay for it; if you can’t pay for it, tough luck, the Pentagon has no say, all they can do offer a sacrifice to save a capability that’s even more critical. Also, the budget isn’t even out yet so we don’t know what the DoD will actually cut or not.

Lloyd Austin was completely incapable of the post. He was selected literally for his political reliability and the color of his skin. And that’s FINE because the post of Secretary is meaningless and has been so for decades now. Strangely, no one worried about Austin’s "incompetence" until it was outed that he had cancer and was literally unqualified for the post — because that’s irrelevant, he and those who came before and after him are just suites.

Yeah and I have seen zero focus on the USN/USMC from Hegseth, it's like 40% USAF 60% USA from him. Which is annoying considering the USAF is in much better shape than the USN and the USA will have minimal impact in the Taiwan Strait situation. I mean there need to be mass, scorched earth firings in the Navy, massive gibs for anyone who will open a new heavy shipyard, and a total overhaul of NAVAIR.

I would say cut Sentinel and see if that is enough to fund it. Sentinel is kind of pointless, the land silos are just there to exist and suck up nukes, their actual capabilities only have to meet a minimum standard to do that so bankrupting ourselves to upgrade a by design sacrificial asset seems retarded.

as someone that hates the leftoids, i have to say, the right wing has a deep running intellectual skill issue. sad but true. i believe they simply do not have the competent staff to replace shit. that's why they're left seething about some vague bureaucratic swamp without being able to put forward a real solution to it despite holding office and the majority. it's because they don't have the people with skills. they're all fucking tv showman or schizo cultists. that's why any of their attempts to take control turns into a shitshow, or they just end up following the same path in reality that leftoids have already set. if rightoids were not retarded they would not even have to "infiltrate" shit really. they could just go and work there after the political support of wrecking the tranny wokeshit. the leftoid degeneracy has set the bar very low for fresh things.

elon & co (thiel etc.) should make the third party. not because they'll be the perfect solution, but so there is something else at all.

Race makes shit third world, its frankly the only salient factor. His stated hiring criteria selects more for preexisting troublemakers and loyalists as well, most of the suits aren't spergs, nerds, or bean counters so their actual utility is limited.

China is a shithole which is almost entirely concerned about "face", so claiming that they have a secret state which is actually competent when every time we get a peek under the hood all we see is incompetence and graft is a strange assumption.

>>63837960
The issue is less a matter of "authoritarianism" and more due to the fact that all these "authoritarian" states were founded, staffed, and still organized by politicos first and foremost. These are not warrior kings, mad scientist terrorists, chaos space marines, or barbarian raiders who set themselves up as a nobility. These are politico faggots who scrabbled to the top of the masses via political means rather than raw force. These faggots aren't even technocrats; and here I'm more referring to the old "robber barron" era elites and the early Progressive Era elites of the US than modern techbros.

Authoritarian political structures post 1900 are rotting piles of back-stabbing, clique shit, graft, and outright theft of governmental resources specifically because those were the means by which the structures were established and thus their very nature selects for those traits in those who effectively become the nobility. The reason they are bloated inefficient messes who put on airs of efficiency is because that's what everybody is doing individually within the system itself. The system wasn't made by an Alexander, Caesar, or Napoleon who for any of their other flaws were capable administrators who did rule top down. They are created by slimy faggots who slinked their way to the top. A country ruled by a coalition of warlords for example would look very different.

The wildest shit I've heard is "malicious compliance". As in they believe there are leftists moles still hidden within the military carrying out... exactly what right wingers are clamoring for. But the things that right wingers want which so obviously blew up in their faces when taken to the logical conclusion. This was when Jackie Robinson's military history webpage was taken down since they obviously used a simple bot to remove any site with scary words like "black", "first", or "trailblazer".

That's not want "malicious compliance" means so either they or you are confused/retarded. Malicious compliance is when you follow the letter of a law or command rather than the intent in such a way as it undermines the greater purpose. Like say you had to report and hold illegal aliens charged with a specific infraction or crime to ICE so you either don't charge anybody for those violations anymore or you modify the procedure by which you deal with them so that they are never officially "charged" and thus cannot be held and reported. This isn't even a Trump example they've had laws regarding drug smuggling since the 90s which which necessitated immediate deportation and certain municipalities simply never enforced them by making the means described above. On the opposite spectrum you had say bumpfire stocks, which exactly followed the letter of the law because fuck the faggots at the ATF.

I do that with your stupidity. I can't believe you're still that stupid.
It baffles me. You somehow manage to live for years and years, master typing and language and ... yet you're so incredibly dumb that your survival to this point seems utterly questionable.

Hard to tell. The mere idea of attempting to get into a system right there, on-site is wild.
If you have things running like that you isolate the box and keep it running until you can get it to a lab.

Note to self (for a friend), find a way to make laptops melt themselves when they are running and moving into the local police/glowie lab. In Minecraft, for research purposes.
