>>63841879>extremely high levels of atheismyou mean the population that doesn't want that regime in charge anymore?
given that the country is so secular then why does the regime keep up the religious proclamations? Its because they are not making them to the population, they keep them under control with their military, they are making them to god.
Every action iran does implies that they are banking on divine intervention and must above all maintain their correct piety or be destroyed. Even their attack methods reflect this. These last few days they have not just been shotgunning civilian populations, they have been providing the effort of launching missiles in the hopes that allah guides them to suitable targets.
The religious person does not think about worldly outcomes but personal propriety. Are they attempting to do the correct action? Whether they fail or succeed is up to god and of little consequence to them, its whether they are trying and what they are trying to do.
In the iranian regimes case, their religion tells them that they must actively try to destroy their enemies, and that their enemies are america, israel, and also basically everyone else who does not agree with them but that comes after. Their particular theological and cultural leanings make them more inclined to believe that direct effort on their part is required for the escheton.
If the iranian regime just cared about being stable and popular it would appease its secular public. It clearly does not. If it cared about that it would not carry out certain actions it has in recent times such as the hijab fiasco. A religious rule enforced on a population that doesnt want it for no benefit other than the idea that allowing that immodesty would make them, the regime, personally accountable to god for letting it happen.
The west has been fucked on the religious scene forgetting piety. Muslims actually retain fear of god. They are placed on the planet, given instruction, and must follow.
