China gets lots of oil from Iran, and is dependent on energy imports. They want Iran to give up cry uncle get the oil flowing smoothly and cheaply again. They aren't going to give Iran anything that prolongs the war.

Doubtful. Xi is only juggling the rest of the provincial and regional leaders of China while trying to play world leader. Him dying would just mean someone else would take over and unless they were a hyper nationalist (more so than Xi is) they can't really fail. Infact being more globalist with their New Silk Road allies and elevating them out of their shithole nations by modernising them like China has would probably cement him as a better leader than Xi.
A new Cold War would legitimately harm China more than it'd help it as China currently enjoys a glut of resources from the US, access to places like Europe with technology etc and education from non-shithole nations while token pressure from India where they use blunt sticks to poke each other a bit in Tibet.
A Cold War would stop all of that and basically all Chinese trade outside of the third world stops.
