They don't call it a competence crisis for nothing. Tha said, as retarded as this is, the odds of anything happening to it are slim. The area around the Golan is almost entirely controlled by Israel and/or Druze militias and Al-Jalani absolutely has no desire to end up on America's shitlist. He got his go ahead to genocide any shiite's even tangentially linked to Iran so he's a happy camper.

>competence crisis
Kek, you dont know what you are talking about do you? Piloting drones isn't a lost art, and was RECENTLY used extensively in the war on terror. Shaqtwan can pilot a uav just as well as Johnny USA, the competence crisis is about complex systems such as power plants and development of new technologies (not using them, kek). A good example is newer vidya, they look like shit for what your PC would require to run it, and generally a game more than 10 years old looks essentially just as good, with better performance.

That is the competency crisis my brown /pol/ friend.

Well based on what I know Iran struggles with smaller jet designs. Its why they haven't implemented large scale jet Shahed production whereas Russia has for its Geran 2 model variation. Different industrial bases etc.
So for them, while it wouldn't help with stealth. It does help with what they already have.
Anonymous No.63859906 >>63859927 >>63859932 >>63859976
>>63859871
Flying wings are generally viewed as being more aerodynamically efficient due to decreased drag. The fact that they are 'stealth' is of essentially no consideration. The thing is likely made of the same shit as the Shaheed, perhaps some sort of carbon fibre body, or just something plastic. One must also remember that in the third world (especially dictatorships), it needs to look cool, not just work. This list shows multiple models which could be the drone, and I have no doubts they probably have a few newer designs.

But you study aeronautics, you should know this.

>>63859906
I was familiar with the efficiency, but flying wings are also a bit picky when it comes to CoG positioning and controlability. This is what sank the XB-35 and YB-49 projects. I know tech has come a long way since then, but Iran is not exactly on the cutting edge of tech.

At least from >>63859927 it seems that these UAVs use simpler principles for flight control, maintaining stability from what is known as reflex (that means the elevators are deflected up in level flight), which could also have an effect on on radar visibility too.
Anonymous No.63859979 >>63859991

Considering what Iran has been running their mouth about recently (new weapons and capabilities, hurka durka), it could very likely be an unseen design. The propeller is very strange, and definitely points to it being a newer, perhaps longer ranged design. Iran still uses hobbyist tier jets in alot of their more 'advanced' drone models, but these are probably shit for anything other than short range strikes.

Could be a new observation drone?
>>63859932
Definitely looks to be of a similar design, if not a new development of the family.

Definitely not out of the question for it to be something Israeli either, though Iranian would make more sense.

I cant imagine Israel using a propeller design for this type of drone.
I know Hermes drones use propellers but this style of drone 100% screams Iranian design solely on that fact
Israel would use jets for something like this
Anonymous No.63859995 >>63860005 >>63860033
>>63859976
Yeah essentially Iran can produce these long range drones using only Propeller designs.
If you research into their one way drones for Yemen (which have a range of 2000km) they can reach Israel from there. So while its less effective it's sorta more practical. If you lose a jet powered drone its a far bigger setback than a simple propeller engine one

Makes sense. I am wondering if this uses the MD550 engine like the Shahed 136 and the noise signature of such an engine. Though, of course, stealth is not the main point, there are ways to make a propeller quiet as seen in the QT-2 and YO-3 programs.

Radar coverage is never absolute, and considering the appearance of the drone, unless Israel has some sort of audio detection system like Ukraine, all the sudden these cheap propeller drones become non-trivial to detect, and suddenly may have the ability to reach (close to) Israeli airspace.

The shape of the drone also could hint at stealth at least being a consideration, so flying low, slow, and with a fairly insignificant RCS could allow it to surveil Israeli sites.

The largest radar returns on most conventional airframe propeller powered aircraft is the propeller, so improving the stealthyness of the airframe of a propeller powered drone is of insignificant value.
