Ukrainians actually want their dead recovered. I’m guessing all of the Russian dead exchanged are officers of relatively high rank (captain and above), seeing as they regularly leave their enlisted to rot where they fall. This has been extensively documented by both Russian and Ukrainian sources.

1. Basic physics and logic. The side which advances can collect bodies of the defenders afterwards, the side which retreats can not since it doesn't control the territory.
2. Lying. There are already proven instances of russians sending their own bodies to ukies to pad the numbers kek.
