What gives? I've seen American soldiers march in step at other events. Was this a form of protest? Were they pissed at being mistreated by the event organizers? I don't really give a shit about the political pageantry surrounding this parade. I do care that this parade made America's army look weak, and probably convinced some boys not to sign up. This board is full of people who served. What the hell is going on?

No, the US just doesn't have any tradition of doing parades at all, so aside from the couple of ceremonial units present who actually do practice marching and keeping in step it's just a bunch of guys who got voluntold to go march, maybe they had 15 minutes to practice before going on. We have no idea how to do a parade because we don't do them. I guarantee you everyone involved in the planning was doing everything they could to kick the can down to the next rung and make it someone else's problem.
