All the guntubers with like 1k+ subscribers are just infomercials. You can't afford to run a gun channel independently out of your own pocket and expect to make any money since the cost of guns and ammo to make even one video will easily reach five to ten times the amount of money you'll actually directly make from Google ads. As a consequence of being sponsored infomercials, all the "reviews" you see from them are just softball evaluations where they most negative they'll ever really admit are things like "I don't like the ergos as much as my AR" or "a firing pin broke so I had to send it back to the manufacturer and wait tw weeks for a new one." You'll basically never get a video of them completely tearing into a gun unless it's basically a joke video shitting on something that's been long discontinued/sanctioned. Guntube as a whole is also oddly politically correct because they're all sponsored by Leviathan, PSA, Spingfield Armory, etc. You can crack jokes about safe-edgy topics like le boogaloo, fighting the ATF over the Waco siege from the early 90's, etc. but you can't talk about pertinent topics like crime and riots (90% of the reasons normalfags buy guns in the first place).

As an American, most of our big sponsored channels are run by people who are very out of touch with the majority of the gun-buying public. I don't mean that in an insulting way, but they're mostly either rich ruralfags with tons of private land or desertfags who shoot on public land out in the middle of nowhere. If any big guntubers actually live in high-crime cities like Memphis, Atlanta, Houston, St. Louis, etc. then they certainly never bring it up. Like I said, guntube is very politically correct considering the subject matter and intended audience.

I've thought about starting a channel since I have a pretty big collection, but I'd have to pad things out since I can't afford to drop $2k per video and I don't have my own range anyway. I don't think I could make a channel completely dedicated to guns unless I severely skimped on shooting, which kind of defeats the purpose.

There's often better shooting facilities in more populated areas though. Some shitty patch of BLM land you can shoot on is a worse shooting experience than whatever gun club is available a short drive outside the city.

I can see why guntubers like their backyard ranges or deserted rural areas, because they need privacy to set up their video setups and to do their obnoxious stunts, but the average shooter is better off joining a gun club that has nice facilities and organized events than shooting trash on some deserted, undeveloped patch of rural land.

Hard to imagine there's many cities in the US that don't have cheap clubs or even free public ranges very close by that will be nicer than undeveloped BLM land.

I currently pay $30 per month for a membership at a public indoor range to practice pistol shooting. And yeah I could use my phone to film in there, but I'd feel like a jackass since they're super anal about safety, rapid fire, etc. and have two or three range jannies standing behind you watching you like hawks the entire time.

For shooting, sure. For making videos, you basically need somewhere private otherwise it's just a sterile and boring shooting experience at paper targets. No chronographs, no different camera angles, heaven forbid no watermelons, no shooting backwards between the legs, no shenanigans.
