Where I'm from average monthly income is about $3,700.
While the tax rate varies by county, it's roughly 30% for this income bracket.
So average monthly income tax is about $1,100.
By American standards that's very high indeed, but it doesn't just pay for healthcare.
Citizens have access a shitload of other """free""" services that are often very costly in the US, college education would be one example.
Not saying one system or the other is better. Just pointing out that while taxes are indeed high, we get more for our money than just """free""" healthcare.
