I've had it on my head for a while to make 2 piece sweetheart grips for the 92fs in a way that'd work for any pistol with a transfer bar that rides inside of the grip. Instead of 1 layer of lexan mill the Grooves necessary for the grip panels into a thin piece of material then sandwich the photograph between that and an exterior clear panel using the grip screws to hold the whole thing together.

The thing I ran into when doing that myself (that anon btw) was realizing the grip panels are actually really damn thin and the linkage track goes through a significant width of it.

I just took a model for 92 grips, sliced em apart at the point where the geometry for the linkage bar was contained in one part, and printed in two separate parts, with a flat surface in between for inserting a printed picture. The result is about as thick as my aftermarket fake ivory grip panels, but you could thin the outer panel (orange) a little more I think. Fits my hand pretty good though cuz I have big mitts. Getting them to be as thin as factory panels would be quite a challenge, but I think this presents a pretty good first step.

That said, you can get a Deagle Brand Deagle to run, you need proper gripping and then hot fucking ammo which has enough jacketing. I feel like the design would benefit from an adjustable gasblock though.

Nah, all 3 .357 mag barrels I have will literally run any .357 magnum load I’ve put in it, a feeding friendly bullet shape helps but I’ve shot about 2,500 rounds of .357 mag through them with little trouble, and grip technique doesn’t really matter as much for .357 since the gun is heavy enough and low recoil enough that you can pull the trigger and just blast.

The main issue with the Desert Eagle is once you fire it enough, the trigger bar safety will stop positively engaging leading to a dead trigger, some lube fixes it but that is the most common malfunction I run into.

Oh and hardcast is fine, the jacket tends to get shredded like an apple peel in the compensated barrels I have, so I kinda prefer hardcast if I’m firing at enclosed range.

The Mauser is a Yugoslavian M48 with bad headspacing, force matched parts, and added chrome plating, all courtesy of Mitchel's Mausers.
Someone bought it off of that tripfag and then stripped the paint and sticker.

If you make the clear faceplate a standardized material thickness, 3/16", 5/36ths, millimeters, whatever works it could be done the old fashioned way on a bandsaw or with a router guide out of plastic sheeting and a ground in chamfer+polish. You wouldn't get the stippling and grip texture detail of resin printing but it'd create the traditional clear polished grip panels.

Getting the linkage track was the hard thing and seeing it print easy is a great development.

Good idea! The grips have a kind of unique geometry and I’m currently experimenting with how to get the dimensions consistently comfortable in the hand without being too wide, as I have to make them on the thicker side in order to be able to contain the geometry for the linkage, at the same time as having a panel for the image. I’m fine to forgo the grip texture options as long as I can get a consistent, clear finish and comfortable shape. Cutting the shape with a router shouldn’t be hard, figuring out how to do the chamfer angles will be the tough part for me. Should hopefully have next results from resin printing or potentially silicone molding and epoxy castings soon within the week. I’ll make a new thread if this one dies by then.
