There's something about harshly slapping this straight bolt handle up, back, forward, and back down that I love dearly

>mfw grandpa had an m1903 but it went to some female cousin who most likely sold it immediately
it was a little bit bubba'd with a more modern scope on it, but it still wouldve been nice to have...

Wouldn't hurt to ask and find out if it's truly gone. Otherwise, if you want to get one for yourself now's a pretty good time. Prices on '03s have been stagnant for about 5 years. $6-800 will get you a WW2-era rebuild which should make for a good shooter.

Such a stellar rifle in terms of looks but the FAL is so unwieldy and outdated

I want to start a company making high quality clones of these

The company would go under immediately and the pre production samples sold at auction would turn into unobtanium collectors items

If you could find a way to price them at 2k or less you'd be...well, not rich but like pretty good. I'd buy one so there's 2k already.

The StG44 is a dream rifle of mine and after handling a deactivated one, it is now a life goal to get a functioning example in some form or another. The BD44s are looking mighty tempting if I weren't in a ban state.

The more I shoot, the less likeable and charming I find outdated shitrods like the FAL. They had their time and place, it's over now.

To be fair I'd have never put this rifle together when I was new to shooting. I had to work my through owning and experiencing the limitations of shitrods over and over again before I accepted the pleasurable superiority of the AR. I now acknowledge it as the greatest rifle of all time (so far).

AKs, PSLs, FALs, PTRs, surplus bolt actions, and other quirky choices don't appeal to me the way they once did. I kept a single K98k in my collection as a historical piece and representative example. Everything else I have now is something I genuinely like shooting that gets out of its own way as much as possible.
