Wouldn't cutting off all your neighbor's main revenue source and attacking their civilians shipping be considered an act of war?

I'm just trying to understand why this is even a "good option?" If you're losing a war against one neighbor, why would you try to indirectly attack them by attacking all your other neighbors?

Also, hasn't Iran been fighting the Taliban and bombed by Pakistan lately for supporting terrorists against them too. What's the deal with everyone disliking them?

That is, notionally, the point. That's very difficult water to work in with a hostile nation on the coast, there's relatively good odds that the Iranians would actually be able to hit something operating in the Hormuz. Naturally, that would only involve making things even worse for them, but these are Muslims we're talking about. If they go that far, it's because they don't give a fuck about what happens after that, they just want to hurt somebody.

Iran could close the Strait. Pretty much the only country that would benefit is Russia. The U.S. would be hurt somewhat, but the bigger losers would be Asia, especially China and India. Iran would struggle too because its economy is highly dependent on the foreign exchange it gets from selling sanctioned crude at a discount to China. I doubt the Chinese would be thrilled if Iran cuts off 1/3 of its daily petroleum intake. Moreover the U.S. could make the Chinese lose face by accusing them of being poor stewards in the region.

Unlike the United States, the UAE and Qatar are so bought out and infiltrated by Israel as to actually get kinetically involved on their behalf. They didn't do this for Iraq during the Iran-Iraq War, and their populace would revolt if they did it for Israel.
They're already supporting Israel economically, despite what Israel would have you believe, so there isn't much more they can do to escalate.

Because the your regime's entire claim to legitimacy and influence is that you're resisting the great Satan, so doing nothing is an existential threat, you have to strike some kind of propaganda blow. And, you're betting the Americans don't want to get involved with full-on regime change, so if you can strike back in some way, find SOME kind of off-ramp, then you can say 'Look, the zionists dogs and their american masters weren't able to totally wipe us out' and start building back up over decades.

The US has been dealing with this already. Did all you fucks forget about the Houthis lobbing missiles at commercial ships and causing insurance rates to spike and more ships to sail around the horn of Africa and the Artic? And then when Israel and Iran started fucking around there was a spike in GPS spoofing (which caused a tanker collision) and necessitating the need for war insurance? I swear every Iran related post seems to have memory holed the last few months of Iranian proxies fucking with peoples boats.

The Saudis have already been in a proxy war with Iran and removing them as a competitor is their #1 goal. I can absolutely see them joining in to pound them, and if they do others will too.

Iran has separatists to support too. It could be defacto partitioned like Iraq without ground forces.

Just here to say I will never forgive the Bongs for splitting up UAE and Oman like this. For fuck sake. It gets even worse but you can't see it on this map. See that little circle bit to the left of the O of Oman? That's Madha. That's Omani territory. Okay you think, that's weird but not too weird since Lesotho exists, right? WRONG. INSIDE Madha you have Nawah which is an UAE counter-enclave.

So it's an UAE enclave, in an Omani exclave. I know why they did it because of 'ethnicity' and shit after the Indians got buttmad they got given one of the biggest and best nations on the planet united for the first time in its history and then started murdering each other due to religion and blaming the Bongs for doing it, but it still is baffling.

I know there is a lot of border gore around but an enclave in an exclave... That's just beyond silly. If you're one of 300 people in Nahwa, to get out, you gotta go through Omani customs, drive through Omani territory, then get back into UAE territory and then do it all the way back. I know technically it was formed by tribal elders before the Bongs ratified the borders, but you'd still think they'd go 'This is fucking retarded'. But by the 60's the Bongs just didn't care and the whole fear of invasion made them give up the entire area (and said invasion never happened) and all those billions they lost, if not trillions, by doing so. Idiots.

Yeah but a civil war in Iran means probably 4x as many refugees as we saw from the Syrian conflict which was destabilizing enough for Europe. I donโ€™t think they can take anymore Muslim cock down their throats. In a perfect world China would see this as an opportunity to find wives for the 40 million unmarried breeding aged males making their population graphs look like an upside down pyramid but they wonโ€™t.

Iran's spent 45 years arming, organizing, and supporting militias and terrorist groups across most of the region. Some of it is directed against the United States or Israel, but an awful lot of it isn't. And even when it is directed against Israel? It's not like when the IRGC and Hezbollah decide to start shit they run it by the Lebanese government first.

>Wouldn't cutting off all your neighbor's main revenue source and attacking their civilians shipping be considered an act of war?
Yes. No other Gulf state likes Iran and they'd be very quick to pitch a fit at Iran if they did this. Not to mention, it wouldn't just affect the other Gulf states but China as well because Iran's main oil customer is China.
>I'm just trying to understand why this is even a "good option?" If you're losing a war against one neighbor, why would you try to indirectly attack them by attacking all your other neighbors?
It's only seen as the "good option" by Iran and their retarded supporters. Iran would be fantastically shooting themselves in the foot if they actually did it.
>Also, hasn't Iran been fighting the Taliban and bombed by Pakistan lately for supporting terrorists against them too. What's the deal with everyone disliking them?
People love to talk about Israel being the sole problem child of the ME but are conveniently ignoring that Iran has been payrolling proxies for decades. Saudi Arabia had been fighting the Houthis for over 10 years now.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4GKAgXv0yc
Iran being a "state sponsor of terrorism" isn't just a meme cooked up by Israel. They've always been doing it since the Iranian Revolution and they aren't exactly good friends with any of the Gulf states because of it

The entire purpose would be to bypass an Iranian "blockade" of the strait. Blockades don't last forever, and the distance saved doesn't make a lot of sense considering the tolls that would be charged to recover the cost of building it.
>Kiel canal
Denmark is much longer and the sound toll much more easily enforced until it suddenly wasn't. Also that was a very big German flex, and on completely different topography.

1. You ignored what I said in my post about the Saudi populace being guaranteed to revolt if Saudi Arabia sides with Israel in a war the latter started with what's been going on in Gaza.
2. Saudi Arabia and all the gulf states got drubbed by just the Houthis and settled for a ceasefire right before Russia invaded Ukraine. They don't want to get directly involved with the Houthi's backers, even with the U.S. and Israel in direct support.
3. Creating a power vacuum and leaving factions to fight among themselves is how we got IS, in case you forgot.

It's a good option because they don't have many other options to retaliate and the only thing the US or the Gulf states will do in response is some kind of air/sea campaign to re-open the strait.
The US isn't going to do a ground campaign in mountainous Iran and waste another 20 years trying to stabilise a country into following the west, and the Gulf states simply don't have the armies to do shit.
Even if the Strait is reopened, Iran is just going to keep lobbing missiles at tankers causing insurance to surge harming oil revenues causing pain to everyone around the world. That kind of pressure will be used to bargain with the US to fuck off and leave them alone.
Anyone thinking or claiming there's going to be a war are fucking retards.

Both of them were pretty reasonable guys with takes such as "it's not the Jews it's their government, I even have Jew friends" and "our government is shit, I hate Muslims". Now their mind switched to "Jews are the cancer of civilisation" "Hitler was right and he punished us by leaving some of them alive", "the current government is legit doing self defense and should not surrender".The youngest one of them even punched a Jew in the street and attacked a girl that had a kinda satanic tattoo that looks vaguely like a David star. That sounds a lot like what is happening in Gaza and other shit holes where we bomb the retards and it just creates more retards. Please glowies do your job I'm tired of working amongst aggressive monkeys that won't shut up about Jews. End of the blogpost

>What's the deal with everyone disliking them?
You can read the wiki page on Iranian foreign relations for an "okay" QRD but here's a few bullet points.

>Morocco
Iran got butthurt at them for sheltering the Shah and funded militia groups against them; Morocco did not appreciate this

>Egypt
Egypt does not appreciate Iran funding terrorist proxies on their border and Iran doesn't appreciate Egypt's attempts to co-exist with Israel

>Afghanistan
Water disputes, refugees and drug smuggling - plus, despite funding them, Iran really doesn't like the Taliban

>Bahrain
Cut ties with Iran over a mob attacking the Saudi diplomatic mission

>India
Nominally good relationship but India does not appreciate Iran's calls for "muh global Jihad", especially in the era of Modi and his Hindu strongman act.

>Iraq
No comment necessary.

>Israel
See above.

>Lebanon
Hezbolllah. 'Nuff said.

>Palestine
Pro-Hamas Palestinians resent how conditional Iranian aid is, anti-Hamas Palestinians resent them for pretty obvious reasons.

>Saudi Arabia
tl;dr Iran resents KSA's alignment with western powers and views them as a bunch of hypocritical degenerates and KSA hates Iran for shitting up the rest of the Islamic world with proxies and intentionally trying to sabotage their western ties. Sunni-Shia feud plays a big role here and Iran and KSA have been in a proxy war for decades.

>Syria
Iran propped up Assad during the SCW, which means that the people and the new government of Syria loathe Iran.

>Jordan
Jordan has been more-or-less hostile towards Iran for the same reasons as KSA,.

the overall tl;dr is that Iran resents any MENA nation being even nominally western-aligned and for their part the rest of MENA doesn't appreciate Iran's liberal support for of militias and terrorist organizations and for chimping out whenever anyone tries to normalize relations with Israel.

>A spectacular series of plays by progenitors of the multipolar world.
>>63883504
>truly, the multipolar world is collapsing, mostly due to the actions of the people who claimed to want the multipolar world
Well, yes, the multipolar world is collapsing, but I think this also *is* the multipolar world in practice and reality, it's just not what people who thought it'd be some kind of "order" expected.

You're describing nonlinear dynamics, like an unstable ecosystem in which small changes can have unpredictable, second-order effects, particularly affecting "weak links" in the chain of life (or the "weak links" in the international system). This can be positive and negative. Like reintroducing wolves into a national park decades after they were hunted down can be positive because they eat the elk which were overgrazing. Or you could introduce toads into Australia to control the sugar cane beetles, but turns out the toads have a toxic chemical that kills native predators so it crashes the native species.

It's theocracy ran by extremist who finance other extremists that actively make the world a worse place across the middle east, is (apparently) hated by a big chunk of its own citizens, and constantly makes calls for the destruction of America and Israel while wondering why no one wants them to have nukes.

Houthis are a dispersed militia group, Iran is an organized military and government that is also thoroughly infiltrated
Israel and the US could legitimately kill the entirety of the ministers of Iran's govt, the Ayatollah and obliterate the rest of the military's force projection and they'd be powerless to stop it.

A missile a day keeps the cargo ships at bay. All it takes to keep the pressure up regardless of how many leaders get decapitated. The hydra grows another head, the body keeps launching attacks.

Just two more air campaigns.

Oh the ironing. You are everything you decry, the only difference is that you have guns to shoot yourself (and schoolchildren, knowing you freaks) with. You should try having an argument instead of a gun next time, you are not special for owning a shitrod.

Stop being retarded, real life international politics is not constrained by your gay rules. Countries ignore their own laws and treaties all the time and see what other nations will let them get away with.

The companies and insurers that run these tankers will also make their own risk decisions.
