It blows my mind that these people keep leaking on war thunder instead of an actual sim like DCS.

I havent played DCS but apparently war thunder has a better simulation of missile mechanics, flares, irccm, radar, notching etc, its a shame though that the gamemodes in war thunder are dogshit

Because Warthunder players are competitive shitters and will do literally anything to grant themselves an advantage or try and have an opponent's strong vehicle nerfed.

It was a promotion thing in the 90s, I think. That's a screenshot of the ad for it. A guy actually got the 7 million points and demanded Pepsi deliver a Harrier. He took them to court when they refused. Court ruled the ad was hyperbole and they didn't have to honor it.

Idk about DCS, but many mechanics are inherently broken, since they have to fit in a F2P game whose purpose is to frustrate players to generate revenue. The game itself has a hard time allowing proper realistic jet combat, part due to engine limitations, part due to matches setup. In the end those mechanics, like any stat, is as realistic as it suits devs. Fun example: a Starfighter can reach its design speed of Mach 2.2, arguably its only strength, but to do that it needs to fly in a constant orbit or it would hit the map borders; trying to turn at that speed however bleeds speed like hell for some stupid reason, so the orbit must be as big as the map making it practically useless.

The thing is that DCS is running on fucking ancient base code and they rely on third party studios to create content, coupled with a community that has little interest in playing airquake and is content with user created missions and campaigns.
It's a clusterfuck of perverse incentives.

That's me. Low BR in arcade is much more fun. You have whacky vehicles and more fun vehicles and it isn't 'Ooops you got one hit killed by an ATGM from 10km away' or 'Ooops a helicopter popped up behind a hill you're dead lol'. I have an IS-7 and I haven't got a single kill with it afaik. You just die. Because you're facing vehicles with ATGM.

The exact wording was that the monetary value of 7 million Pepsi points doesn't come anywhere close to the cost of 1 Harrier so Pepsi couldn't be expected to buy one for a customer.

The chang dart >>63883963 was a classified document, though it wasn't a very serious leak either, ODIN had the penetration of the dart into RHA, so the info was likely already known

I was pleased when we got rid of them, in RAF service it was shite with a feeble weapons load, short range and killed loads of pilots. The SHAR was handy though.

The concept of the harrier is unremarkable now. One big inlet and jet engine that blows into four adjustable vents making it like a tiltrotor quadcopter. Impressive RCS electronics for active stability in the era before personal computers. And the harrier does work.

The F-35 system is just a little simpler and more efficient because the clutched lift fan can be designed and geared for VTOL speeds only and the main engine nozzle vectors as a primary control method rather than its thrust.
